Marty didn't know where to start so he went up to the gazebo.

Emmett greeted, "Mike, you're just in time!"

Marty asked, "How've you been, Emmett? I know I haven't seen you in a couple of months..."

Emmett reassured, "I'm great and I owe it all to you!"

Marty asked, "Really?"

Emmett confirmed, "Yes! That argument that I had with my father during our jet-drill experiment gave me the incentive to finally quit that dreary court job! I've committed myself full-time to science!"

The younger McFly stated, "So, um, thanks for watching Einstein while I've been...away."

The inventor replied, "It's been a pleasure. He's proven to be a surprisingly willing test subject. It's almost as if he's been working with me for years."

Marty whispered, holding back tears, "You have no idea..."

Emmett picked up on this, "Hmm? Mike? What's wrong...?"

Damn, he hated it when he was readable. But it wasn't like Emmett knew of time traveling - at least not yet. And he really didn't want to lie to him any further, unless he had to. So he decided for a half truth.

Marty lied, "Oh um you remember when I was telling you about my cousin, Ami?" To that, the inventor nodded. He added, "She...hasn't been feeling well lately. She's been awfully sick and it has been worrying me."

Emmett went over to his friend and placed his hand on Marty's shoulder. He told Marty, "Hey, she'll be okay. From what I can tell, you two are very close. Close to almost being married. She'll be fine. Just trust in that, okay?"

Marty replied, "Okay...thanks Emmett." To that, Emmett nodded. Marty decided to change the subject and asked, "What's the story with the little car and all this equipment?"

Emmett explained, "Einstein and I are conducting a few experiments with this one-quarter scale model to work out a few hitches in my planned demonstration at the Hill Valley Expo in a couple of months!"

Marty was curious, "A radio-controlled car...?"

Emmett replied, "No! Well, yes. But it will be so much more than that! It'll amaze the world!" Once he got the equipment working he said, "Aha! Got it!"

The musician asked, "Got what?"

The inventor answered, "I'll show you." He went over to the car and asked, "Ready to go, Einstein?" Emmett closed the roof hatch. He went back over to the equipment as he took a lever in his hand. He added, "Watch this!" That's when Emmett pushed down on the lever and the car went around the gazebo a few times. He explained, "When this baby hits 23 miles per hour, you're going to see some serious cowflop!"

Emmett pulled another lever and the car began to fly upwards. However it lost control and was starting to fly all over the place.

Marty cried out, "Einstein!"

Emmett frowned, "No!"

Marty insisted, "Get him out of there!"

Emmett reassured, "Not to worry. I've got a fail-safe mechanism around here someplace! See? Nothing to worry about."

Marty repeated, "Nothing?" The car flew up to the roof of the courthouse, spun around, and dropped off Einstein up there. Einstein barked a few times. Marty replied, "I'll go find something to help...or someone..."

That's when he saw Doc at the flophouse window. He went inside and into Doc's room.

Marty questioned, "Hey, Doc. How's the room?"
