Matches groaned, "See what I am working with here?"
As they were trying to wake up Arthur, Marty got out of the box. Cue Ball turns to Zane.
He teased, "Seems to be catchin'."
Matches huffed, "Zane! Wake up!"
Just then Zane got up, "Uh sorry boss... This stupid cold's got me wiped-out..."
That's when he sneezed.
Matches instructed, "Well try to stay awake long enough to finish that poster, willya? We got a club to open in a few days! And turn off that sign, wouldja?"
The sign read El Kid and Zane turned it off. Marty knew that he had to do something and fast to get Arthur out there. Matches turned on the light while Cue Ball went to the piano to practice. Marty grabbed the bottle of chloroform from the counter. He then put some into Zane's ink bottle. Zane was still working on the poster, taking more ink for it. That's when he smelled the chloroform, grumbled something, and went to sleep.
Matches called out, "Zane! Wake up you lazy bum!"
But it was of no use, Zane was out cold.
Cue Ball frowned, "Must've been the cold."
Matches was furious, "Cold my eye! He's been dippin' into the inventory!"
Arthur sleepily replied, "Do inventory!"
Marty whispered, "One moron down, two to go."
Marty turned on the El Kid sign, making it short circuit and blowing a fuse. It turned off Matches' light.
Arthur sleepily said, "Nighty night."
Matches said, "What the...?"
Cue Ball stated, "I think we blew a fuse."
Matches told him, "Well, go up to the soup kitchen and get a new one."
Cue Ball asked, "Why me?"
Matches pointed to Arthur, "You'd rather hang around and talk to this guy?"
As if on cue, Arthur sleepily replied, "Happy days are here again..."
Cue Ball agreed, "Yeah, I'll just get that fuse."
With that, Cue Ball went upstairs to the soup kitchen. Marty hit the panic button, turning it into an ice cream shop, releasing a bottle free. Matches hit the panic button as it turned back into a bar. He went back to Arthur.
He grumbled, "You're tryin' my patience, Artie..."
Marty picked up the bottle as he activated the panic button again. Matches came back over again but this time, the youngest McFly was ready. He hit Matches over the head with the bottle. Matches was knocked out.
Arthur replied sleepily, "Bam! Right in the kisser!"
Marty made sure that he wasn't fading out anymore. When he confirmed that he wasn't, he went over to Arthur. Marty went behind him and started to untie him.
Arthur was confused, "Hey you... wait, do I know you?"
Marty admitted, "Not for another 40 years."
Cue Ball was trying to tap to get back into the bar.
Arthur got up, "Whoa, everything is spinning..."
Marty insisted, "C'mon, Artie. Let's get out of here before these jerks get a chance to kill you!"
Arthur did a double take, "Wait a minute... They were going to kill me?!"
Arthur fainted again as Marty grabbed him quickly.
Marty grumbled, "Great..."
As the youngest McFly carried Arthur out, they kept hearing Cue Ball trying to get back downstairs.
...
Marty managed to get Arthur in the De Lorean and drove off to where he left Doc and Officer Baines. Just he was arriving, the other De Lorean was just leaving. Marty picked up Doc quickly and they left a very stunned Officer Baines behind.
Doc asked, "So what happened?"
Marty answered, "Well, it has been all over the place but Artie is alive. Sleepy from the chloroform but okay."
Doc stated, "Sounds like you have a story to tell Annie and I once we get back. We just got this loose end to tie up."
Arthur protested, "No, don't tie up again..."
Marty perked up, "Sounds like he's waking up."
Marty pulled over to the De Lorean so they could drop off Arthur.
Doc pleaded, "So please be careful. You won't be safe in Hill Valley as large as Kid Tannen remains at large."
Arthur replied, "Don't worry, I'm going far away from Hill Valley and I'm never coming back!"
Both Marty and Doc protested. Marty whispered, "He's still got to meet grandma!"
"What's her name?" Doc whispered.
"Sylvia!" He replied back.
Doc turned to Arthur, "Do you know a woman named Sylvia?"
Arthur shook his head, "No..."
Doc replied, "Well, she knows you. Will know you. Um, it's vitally important that you two meet!"
Arthur perked up, "Oh, I get it! You want me to be part of some undercover sting operation?"
Doc replied, "Uh yes."
Arthur asked, "Are you G-Men?"
Marty responded, "Definitely."
Arthur stated, "Sure, anything for Uncle Sam! I'll stay nearby and wait for this Sylvia. But in the meantime, I'll keep low."
Doc said, "Good man!"
That's when he closed the De Lorean door before Arthur could ask another question. With that, the two went on their way.
Doc commented, "That was a close call!"
Marty asked, "Think he'll be okay?"
Doc answered, "You're fading out or anything, are you? Besides, Arthur will be completely out of danger come August 25th."
Marty repeated, "August 25th?"
Doc explained, "That's the day that Kid Tannen is finally put behind bars!" He turned to Marty asked, "How's that picture of your dad?"
Marty brought it out and answered, "Still there."
Doc responded, "Good. Now let's get out of here before we accidentally elect Hoover to a second term."
That's when Doc put in the time coordinates of May 15th, 1986 at 8:30 am. The two of them headed back to the future, leaving a pair of fire trials behind.
...
When Doc pulled up to Marty's house, Marty got out of the De Lorean. He was back in his usual attire.
Marty commented, "Well, everything looks okay."
Doc asked, "Are you sure?"
Marty looked at the door and replied, "See, 'McFly Residence'." He turned to Doc as he asked, "So...want to come in, maybe hang out with Annie and I? I want my dad to see for himself that you're still around."
Doc started to say, "I've love to Marty but..."
Marty was disappointed, "You've got to go. I understand Doc. Annie will too. You got your own life to lead. Kids to raise and all that..."
Doc shook his head, "No, I've got to get down to the bank and stop that estate sale you told me about."
Marty replied, "Oh. Oh!"
Doc responded, "You go find your Pop and Annie. I'll be back within the hour!"
Marty smiled, "See you soon, Doc!" With that, Doc drove off. Marty pumped his fist. Maybe things were finally getting back to normal.
