This was an old small fic I've done a while ago, and I decided now I should put it here too.
It started because a friend said that Lane and Hikaru could honestly have a good and overall calm relationship, had it not been for how canon write them out to be.
And I agree 1000000% on this fr. They both are mature and kinda looked after Hyuga, so they're basically the parents in the trio while Hyuga is the chaotic child who doesn't know how to calm down lmao.
Anyways, enjoy this small one-shot.

"LET'S GO LET'S GO LET'S GO LET'S GO LET'S GO!!!" It was the only thing Hyuga said as he kept running.
God, his energy is never ending.
Following behind him were 2 older boys; one is the bluenette older brother, the other is the tall magenta haired boy looking like he doesn't want to be there.
"I... Hah... Hyuga... Hah... Slow... Slow down..." It was the panting sound from Hikaru, the older brother. He really looked like he was on the verge of passing out.
Hyuga has been running around for hours.
Hours.
Hikaru is actually capable of catching up to Hyuga, but there's really a limit to how much he could do.
And running up and catching after Hyuga (and not really succeeding) for hours are definitely pushing his limits.
He was wheezing in the next moment, his legs were shaky, too.
Lane, seeing that Hikaru really is now incapable of catching up to Hyuga, glanced over to a nearby bench. "There's a bench that's empty. I don't want to carry you when you guys are gonna return home, so go sit there or whatever." He said with a nonchalant tone.
The bluenette looked up to the magenta male for a moment, before nodding slightly and took a seat at the bench to rest his legs and to calm his breathing.
Without saying anything, Lane walked up towards whatever direction Hyuga is at, and was met with the sight of the redhead doing a million actions per second. God, how did Hikaru ever manage this? He has some god-level patience for sure.
"Oy, Pineapple Head." Lane started. "How about you keep quiet and just stop going to places so quickly? Your brother can't even catch up to you anymore." He said, sounding a little annoyed.
Lane looked over down to the bottom of the stairs where the bench Hikaru was sitting is at, which made Hyuga look towards that direction too. They could clearly see that Hikaru is still trying to pick up his breathing pace, and his legs are still shaky.
"Oh, I didn't realize." Hyuga said, feeling guilty. "Whatever." Lane said simply.
There was a slushy stand nearby, so Hyuga immediately bolted towards the stand. Lane followed suit, feeling in the mood for a slushy himself.
"An apple slushy, got it. And what would you like?" The stand owner asked Lane after getting what Hyuga wanted.
"I'll get a blackberry one, and a blueberry one. Separate." He replied. The man nodded, and it didn't take for their slushies to finish.
Unbeknownst to the two of them, 2 teenagers seemed to be watching everything from a distance. One is giggling gleefully, the other just smiles.
The two boys made their way to where the bluenette is still sitting, seemingly now able to fully calm down now. Lane pulled out the blueberry slush to Hikaru.
"You're really bothersome, you didn't bring a water bottle with you." He said. Hikaru just sweat dropped as he accepted the slushy and drank it, feeling the tasty (although artificial) blueberry cold taste.
It was finally a time where the Asahi brothers had to return home for the day. Hikaru said that he'll pay him back for the money spent for his slushy, to which Lane said don't bother, he just didn't want to see his pathetic face.
After the brothers left, the two teenagers felt like it was their cue, and approached the magenta male.
"Hehehe! Good evening, Lane!" Valt Aoi, the legend of legends, greeted with a lot of mischief and glee in his tone. Something from that tone from the older bluenette's voice just doesn't sit right with Lane.
"Glad you're more social now, Lane." Shu Kurenai, Lane's mentor, commented, lightly patting the younger boy's back a bit.
He could feel nothing but dread. "How much did you see?" Lane asked, although he had a feeling that it must be a lot.
"From start to end!" Valt replied. Oh god, it was worse than he thought.
"You know Hikaru is gonna pass out if he keeps pushing, so you told him to sit down, and bought him the slushy while you kept an eye on Hyuga in the meanwhile so Hikaru can get some rest a bit." The whitehead said with a smile.
"Of course not! He just looks pathetic, so I want him to get rid of that look from my sight." The young boy said, trying to deny these 'allegations'.
Oh, but the two teenagers knew better than that. The two chuckled at his response.
"You're very kind, Lane. I'm sure they'll back you up, just like how you back them up. Your relationship with them seems to be a solid one, too." Valt said.
He had nothing to say after that.
Yeah, he cared. But he'll never admit it out loud, so the only way he could show it is through actions.
Maybe someday, he'll learn how to do things a little more better.
