Marcus's POV
Damn it, Gillian was starting to get on my nerves. Sure she was smoking and everything, but she as all lovey-dovey. All I wanted was someone I could screw. That had been Charli's purpose. Yeah, when we were dating I had liked her, but she wouldn't give it up to me. But at that party, damn she wa hot. Even her screams. I tried not to laugh at the memory of her. God, she was so naive. It was intoxiating. Hell, I think I'd give her a scare. I typed her number in, writng out a text. "Hey Gorgeous, when will I see you again."
This time I did laugh out loud, thinking of her face when she'd get the text. I noticed Jack staring at me, and I stopped laughing. Damn I hated him. He had a large welt on his fore-head. I wished I could have been the person to give it to him. I slid my phone into my pocket, winked a tthe young substitute english teacher, and pretended to listen. The sub was kinda hot. Maybe I'd screw her after school. I grinned. Gillian, go to hell.
Jack's POV
I saw Marcus texting someone. Maybe it was Gillian, god I hated them both. Wonder what he was saying to her? I looked a the phone number in the box. Hey, that was Charli's number! Shit, why did I have it memorized? But why was Marcus texting her? I thought they were over. I mean, he was screwing Gillian. Yeah, he probably did that anyway. I couldn't read what he was saying to her. All i saw was "Hey Gorg..." but he was blocking the rest of the screen. Damn. Wait, why did I care? AHHH! What was wrong with me? "Mr. Greens!" The sub said nervously.
"Uhh, ya?" I asked.
"Please pay attention." she replied.
"Oh, ya sorry."
Charli's POV
I can't believe my mom is making me do this! "Mom, I still feel sick! I can't go to school
! I'm still contagious!" I practically shrieked.
'Honey, you don't have a fever, and you've already missed 2 weeks of school. You're probably way behind."
"Mom, please! One more day!" I pleaded.
"No, and if you skip school, I will take away your Internet privileges." Mom said sternly.
It took all the control I possessed to not burst out crying. Marcus would be at school. the guy who made my life a living hell. I packed my back-pack slowly, dreading the day. I couldn't drive my hands were shaking so badly. I had to get my best friend Claira to pick me up. "Hey girl! I was worried about you! I though you had like, died or something! You've missed so much school!" Claire threw her arms around me, giving me the biggest bear hug.
I laughed. "I've just been sick. I still don't feel to good. Is it okay if I lay down in the backseat?"
"If you're cool with hat, then so am I." Claira got in the driver's seat and started the engine. I climbed in the backseat, laying down. "So...I saw you making out with Marcus at the party. Did you guys get back together or what?" Claira looked t me through the rear-view mirror.
My heart skipped a beat. "Ummm, hell no." I hoped my voice didn't sound as shaky as I heard it.
Claira laughed. "I..I mean, no. He cheated on me remember." I reminded her.
'yeah I know....but..." Claira started cautiously.
"But what?"
"Nothing."
We drove in silence for the rest of the way.
We entered the school yard. My heart jumped into my mouth. there he was. Marcus. His arm slung around Gillian. Wait, i thought Gillian was going out with Jack. whatever, it's not like I cared. I gatherd up my courgae and walked past Marcus into the school. He winked at me. I started running. I ran into the girls bathroom. I went into a stall, locking the door behind me. I didn't feel safe here. Not even locked inside a room.
