Claira's POV

I was nervous as hell. While I was by my locker at the end of the day, Jack had asked me to meet him hear at the  park at 7:30. What did he want to say? Why didn't he talk to Charli? He was after all the father. That baby deserved to have a daddy, and Charli deserved to have someone she could lean on. I felt a hand on my shoulder and I jumped. It was Jack. "Jack..I....you scared me." I gulped.

He smiled. "sorry, I didn't mean to. Would you liket to get a lemonade?"

Jack began pulling me towards a lemonade stand before I could even answer. He ordered us both drinks and we took them to a bench by the river. I actually felt really awkward, but the situation didn't seem to bother Jack. How could he just sit there so carefree, knowing that his life had just been changed. Didn't he care? Before I could stop myself, I blurted out, "Are you gonna help Charli raise the baby? Or are you just gonna be an ass and ignore them?"

Jack stiffened beside me. I could tell that I had struck a nerve. He slowly turned until he was facing me.

Jack's POV

"Are you gonna help Charli raise the baby? Or are you just gonna be an ass and ignore them?" Claira asked.

I slowly turned to face her. "The baby and Charli are none of My concern." I answered coldly.

Claira's mouth opened in shock. "None of your concern? You're the frickin' father remember?"

"Look can we not talk about this?" I pleaded.

Claira looked away in disgust. Damn. this was not going well. The light breeze pulled a tendril of her hair out of it's bun. I rubbed it between my fingers, letting my other hand trail down to her's, tracing light circles. I felt Claira take in a breath. i smiled. It was working. I tilted her chin towards me, leaning down to kiss her. I was almost to her mouth when I felt her hands pushing me away. Claira pulled her hand away from his, and stood up abruptly. "What the hell is your problem?' She practically screamed. I straightened, taken aback. "Ummm...er...ah..." I stuttered. i had not been prepared for this.

"Your going to be a dad in like 9 months!" Claira yelled, attracting attention from other people.

"Claira, calm down, people are watching..." I began.

"Oh? You didn't seem to have a problem with them seeing us kissing. I mean, how could you do that to Charli? Do you have any idea what she is going through right now. Why don't we add a cheating boyfriend to the list to?"

"Okay, for starters, I'm not Charli's boyfriend..."

"No, just the person she choose to have a baby with. Wow, I'm surprised you even know each other." Claira snapped sarcastically.

She spun on her heel and left without another word. I just sat there stunned. Well, that didn't work. Hmm, now what?

Charli's POV

I can't even remember why I have Jack's address. I knocked on the door, steadying myself, not sure if I actually wanted to go through with this. I'm just gonna leave, i decided, turning to go. Just then the door flew open and a little girl wearing an apron and a tiara stood in the doorway. "Yes?" she asked expectantly.

"Ummm...uh...hi...I...I..."

I don't know what I had been expecting, but this was not it. "Carrie? Who is it?" Another voice called from the kitchen.

" It's:Ummm...uh...hi...I...I" Carrie stated, pleased with herself that she had remeber such a weird name.

"What?"

A lady, who could only be her mother they looked so much alike, came in behind Carrie. 'What can I do for you?" she asked, drying her hands on a towel.

"Umm, I was wondering if....I could..erm, speak to Jack." I stuttered nervously.

The lady smiled and extended her hand. "Sure thing, i'm Lillian by the way, Jackl's mom."

"Charli." I sadi quietly.

"Okay, well, Jack's room is right up those stairs, second door on the right." Lillian said.

"Okay, thanks."

I climbed the stairs. Then, steeling all the courage I cold muster, knocked on the door. It opened. Jack stood there. "What the hell." He muttered. "Why are you here?"

"I....I...I came to say I'm sorry, about lying about you being the father."

"Oh." Jack said coldly.

A tear slid down my cheek and I bowed my head. "Hey. Jack's voice was softer now. "Hey, don't cry."

He came closer, and dried my face with the sleeve of his shirt. "Come in."
