Charli's POV
"Charli Emily Caine, what the hell did you think you we're doing? Where were you? I called your cell like 50 times! I tried going to the police but they said that there was nothing they could do for at least 24 hours. Do you know how worried I was? How could you do this to me! I'm your mother!..."
Mom droned on and on, yelling and screaming until she was practically blue in the face. I knew I should have phoned her, but still, some...things had happened. Things I didn't want my mom finding out about. "Do you under...Oh My God!"
I looked up. Mom was staring at me with a look of horror and concern in her eyes. "What the hell happened to your face?"
Shit. Jack didn't have any make-up for me to cover my bruises and cuts with. Well...duh, he's a guy, genius. "Charli? Honey, what happened?" Mom asked me softly.
"I....I....,"
Crap! What was I supposed to say? Okay, i'm gonna go for the confusing approach. I slowly made my way towards the stairs.
"Well. You. See. Mom," with every word I was moving backwards away from her and up the stairway.
"Funny. Thing. Actually. I. Was. Sitting. Eating. My. Lunch. At. School. When. Out. Of. Nowhere. Someone's. Orange. Attacked. Me. With. A. Pine cone. It. Had. The. Advantage. Of. Surprise. You. Know?"
By now I was on the last step."
"WHAT?" Mom gasped.
"Crazy right? Well....gotta go!" I ran down the hallway and into my room, locking the door behind me.
"Wait! Charli! Get your ass down here right now!"
Wow, mom was swearing at me. She practically never swore. "Sorry, I...I gotta phone call." I lied.
I picked up the my cell and called Claira. I needed some girl time. Her phone rang 4 times then went to her answering system. Damn. Where could she be? Maybe she was at her house. I really needed to talk to her. Wait, mom would never let me after that stunt I just pulled. So...sneaking out was the only option. I quickly scribbled a note to my mom, telling her where I would be. Wow, i was in serious trouble when mom found out I had gone. Oh, well....she was already mad at me. I swung my right leg over the window sill, then the left. It was only a 7 ft drop. I jumped, landing on the grass with a barely audible thud. I ran across the drive way and onto the street.
Claira's POV
"Claira-Bun! Your date is here!" My dad yelled from down stairs.
I groaned. Why did he have to call me by my lame nick-name in front of Marcus? He must know how embarrassing that is. Claira-Bun. Aghhh.
"Coming dad!"
I made sure my hair and make-up were perfect, grabbed my light-weight gray hoodie, my purse and I was good to go. When I got down stairs, Marcus was standing in the doorway with a bunch of roses. "Why hello Claira."
I giggled. Hey! Don't look at me like that! I couldn't help it.
Marcus handed me the flowers. "I'll put those in a vase for you." My dad said, "Now, you two better be off."
"Okay, thank you Mr. Hansten." Marcus smiled.
"Bye Dad."
Marcus grabbed my hand and pulled me towards the car. Well, this was going well.
Marcus's POV
I can't believe I had to spend precious money on roses for Claira. It was money I could have spent on Charli. The girl I loved. For some reason, she didn't love me back. I don't know why. I mean, she's the mother of my baby. If we are to be a good family, she has to love me. Our baby needs to be brought up in a warm, loving environment. "Marcus?" Claira interrupted my thoughts.
"What?'
"I was just wondering where we were going."
Who cares? "Oh, it's a surprise."
Claira grinned.
Claira's POV
Awww, he's so romantic.
Marcus's POV
Thank god it's only a couple more minutes to the restaurant.
I neatly parked my car in front of Bellini's, a local Italian place. "Oh my gosh! I love Italian!" Claira squeals.
I smile. Oh, how I wish that it was Charli fawning all over me instead of Claira.
Claira's POV
The date was amazing! It was like we were meant for each other. I still can't believe I actually went on a date with Marcus. When he dropped me off, he gave me a quick peck on the lips. Now, 5 minutes later, I can still feel the heat of his lips on mine. Okay, call me a hopeless romantic/drama queen. But, it was my first kiss. I had had a series of nasty boyfriends, and I had never wanted to kiss any of them. Plus, if my dad found out he would probably buy a gun and shoot the unlucky guy. My dad is WAY to over-protective. But hey, he is my dad after all.
I opened the door to my room. I was humming that song from the Lion King, Hakuna Matata. I let out a scream.
"Oh my god!"
Charli was sitting on my bed, holding my phone in her hand. Her cheek was bruised, her lips cracked and swollen, and several cuts scattered her face. Charli grimaced,
"Nice date?"
DUN DUN......DUN!!!! So, in this chappy you realize how messed up Marcus actually is! AHHHH! He's one messed up dude!
