chapter 1 - books

Gosh darn it... that's the last page!" N exclaimed, V leaned up against him as they sat in the library.

V let out a quick sigh and got up, stretching. N shut the book and set it down, looking at V her arms up.

He smiled, V looked at him and blushing. She played with her hair as she swung her head the other direction.

"Wanna get another book?" N asked, standing up and gesturing for Vs hand. She glanced up at him, taking his hand to stand once more.

"What do you have in mind? Fantasy, spooky... nah spooky is scary..." N rambled, V walking over to the other bookshelf and reaching for a book she had been eyeing for quite awhile. It was colorful with the rainbow plastered on it. She tried to grab it but it was a bit too short.

"Valerie? Oh, Val! I didn't realize you had gone!" N spoke, skipping over to where V was, her still reaching for the book. She put an arm on the lower bookshelf and tried reaching for it once more but had no luck.

"You want that one?" N asked, V turning to him, shocked by him being right there. She nodded hesitantly but quickly.

"Here, I'll get it for you," N spoke, reaching to grab it. V, still being in front of N, blushed at him reaching over her. Butterflies flew in her stomach, N, not knowing what was really going on, being focused in grabbing the book she wanted.

When he brought it down to her after getting it successfully, he showed it to V.

"This one?" He asked, cat, dogs, and rainbows painting the cover. He looked up at her, V being flustered out of her mind.

"Val? You ok...?" He asked, waving his hand in front of her.

"I- I yeah... yeah I'm fine..." She laughed, fighting with her hands and hair nervously.

"You look kinda out of it... are you sure?" N asked, putting his hand on her right cheek and lifting her face up slightly to see her clearer.

"I- I'm fine!" She said, blushing and sweating, not knowing what to do with her hands so she just froze.

N smiled at her, V getting more flustered by the second.

"Valerie?" N asked.

"Y-yeah..?" She responded, careful with her words.

"Was this the book you wanted?" He asked holding it to her again.

"Yes." She spoke.

"Another cats and dogs book?" N asked playfully annoyed.

"Hehhe, yeah... I can't seem to find another genre," She giggled, putting her hand to her mouth in a fist like formation.

N blushed this time, itching the back of his head.

"You wanna read it now?" He asked, cupping Vs hand, making her blush along with him.

"Of course I would Nate," She spoke, being dragged to the floor by N to lye her head on his shoulder as he read to her.

The read the book for quite sometime before Tessa came into the library abruptly.

"Oh! This is were you guys were!" She laughed, V and N looking at each other curiously. V sprung off N's shoulder to look at Tessa.

"Whatcha guys readin'" She asked, sitting down next to N.

"Eh another books about dogs and cats... Valarie picked it out and she seems to like these," N responded, dog-earing the page and showing Tessa the front cover.

"Does she now? How fun," Tessa spoke getting up from the floor. " You know we have other books though, right?"

"Yeah.. I know but if it's what Valarie likes..." N looked and V, "then I like it too,"

"That's adorable!!!" Tessa squealed making the two blush and look away from each other.

"Anyway I need you two in the hallway, a vase broke and we need you to pick it up," Tessa ordered, "Though I don't like using you guys as slaves my mother said so..."

Tessa looked down, a bit guilty for telling them to do this.

"Alright, comon' Val," N spoke getting up and lifting her up by her hand which she had been holding N's for a while now

"Here ill put the book away-" N was about to say before V reached for it too, their hands slightly grazing each other before....

Spark.

The jumped back, a bit frightened but shocked. She blushed at each other before just leaving the book where it is, holding hands unintentionally as they walked out of the library.
