N woke up, the sun lazily hitting his visor, making him squint. As he got out of the sun's bright gaze, he felt that V was no longer with him. Confused, he swiftly got up onto his feet, looking for her, calling her name every once and a while.

"N? What are you doing, you're making so much noise-" J asked, peering into the library. N swiftly interrupted her, getting worried.

"Do you know where Valarie is?" N didn't care that she used his real name, he just wanted to know where V was.

"You mean... V?" J asked, trying to start something as she said it with a smirk.

"No Jade, I mean Valarie," N spoke, using the name Tessa chose for her instead of her code. He felt obligated to call her something other than her code, for it felt wrong to objectify her. Though instead of looking at N with disgust as she normally would, she blushed.

"Jade..? You're blushing," N spoke.

"S-shut up..." J stuttered. Her face glowed more as she tried to hide it, "shit..."

"JADE?!" N screeched, swearing not being something he enjoyed.

"STOP CALLING ME THAT NOW N!!!!" J ordered.

"WHY??"

"I- ONLY-" She paused, "Tessa calls me that..."

"You-" N processed this, putting the two clues he had gotten together, "Oh... wait.. How does that-"

"V is in the kitchen, she got burned or something last night i dunno..." J spoke, trying to get out of her having to explain her and Tessa's relationship any further.

'Burned..?' N thought, as he walked to the kitchen.

He anxiously twiddled with his fingers as he made his way to the small kitchen where other workers were- well- working.

He looked around, making his way through the workers cooking and cleaning. He didn't see V anywhere. He checked the cabinets too, hoping for some sign of her.

He began to get worried and asked around if anyone had seen her.

"Hi excuse me-" N started before they shrugged and rolled their eyes.

He asked another worker.

"Hello um I'm looking for..." He trailed off as they ignored him, guilt and anxiety coming over him.

"Excuse me?" N asked, tapping a worker washing dishes. They turned to look at them, their expression blank. Finally someone was willing to listen to him.

"Hi uh- you didn't see a girl with a bob-cut and glasses did you?" N asked, desperately waiting for an answer.

The worker paused, questioning their morning in the kitchen.

"I... I may have seen someone like that go into the pantry over there if that helps at all. She looked strange though... I'm not sure,"

N worried, though was relieved someone had answered him.

"Thank you so much," N spoke, them nodding in response before finishing up the dish they were cleaning.

N walked towards the pantry, the smell of bread and other foods coming over him. He smelt something strange though on top of it all before he opened the door.

There. Right there. It was her.

She looked peculiar, arched over something, her back facing him.

"Val...?" N asked, carefully walking over to her. She chewed on something, N not being able to see what it was yet.

He placed his hand on her shoulder, then realized she was shaking while eating.

Then he saw it.

A dead worker, ripped apart, oil dripping out onto the floor. V had taken chunks out of the devastating corpse and shoved it into her mouth as she had been doing.

N's breath was shaky, never seeing such a horrible thing in his life. His hand slowly was placed over his mouth in horror, before he shook her.

"VALERIE." He shouted, trying to pull her off the corpse, which he had managed to do, though she came crawling back.

"V!!" N called her by her code, her preferred not working, making her snap up.

An odd symbol on her face peered over to him, making him uncomfortable. Both on the floor of the dark pantry, N back up slightly.

V's eyes glitched back to normal, small tired lines under them.

"nate?" V spoke, N looking at her still horrified.

"I-" She was interrupted by her gaging. She turned back to the corpse and began to vomit.

"VAL!" N shouted, his worries now only on V.

He watched the last of the oil dripping out of her mouth before she wiped it with her arm.

"nate.." She spoke, tears forming on her visor. "I'm so... so sorry."

"No no Val is ok..." He shushed her, pulling her into a hug.

She soon hugged back tightly, before burying her face into his chest. She cried softly, N rubbing her back.

"Please don't cry Valerie," N spoke, looking down at her small shaking body.

"I'm sorry I'm sorry..." She repeated, over and over.

"Shhhhh it's okay..." N comforted her, still uneasy, the corpse obtaining flies quickly.

"please don't hurt me nate.." She pleaded, N's eyes widening by the sound of this.

"who- why would I hurt you?" He asked, bringing her out of the hug by her shoulders to look at her tear filled eyes.

Her mouth shook, holding back her cries.

She sniffed.

"I-" Pause "I don't know.."

N wiped her tears with his thumb.

"hey," N started, cupping her face and looking at her carefully.

"I'm not gonna leave you ever. You don't have to explain anything, but why...?" N asked.

"I- don't know I just..." V began, more tears coming before her, blurring her vision.

"I haven't told you everything Nathaniel...."
