LAURELS car slowly pulled up to the side of the country club. Belly and I dolled up for the debutante event. As the vehicle stopped, Belly and I quickly exited the car and started on our way. Laurel followed us on the curb from her vehicle.

"Girls?" Laurel said, making Belly & I stop in our tracks. Belly turned around and rolled her eyes at her mother, when we were younger, Belly used to tell me how she wished Susannah had been her mother, how Laurel was too reasonable and boring. Yes, Laurel wasn't the funniest person ever, but at least she'd pick her daughter over anyone else.

"I just want you to know that if you decide you hate it, or if the girls are mean, or even if the food is bad, you can text me. I promise I won't say, "I told you so." She said, directed at Belly.

"The country club food is always wonderful," I told her, smiling.

"I'll be fine," Replied Belly, turning back around to keep walking. Laurel cared deeply for Belly.

"Humor me? Use our code phrase, and I'll be right there." Laurel said Belly's cheeks flushed a light shade of pink.

"Mom," Belly said, rolling her eyes.

"You remember it from when you were little, right? - Lemon Jelly Belly." Laurel told her as Belly recited it rolling her eyes. I giggled a little before she shot me a glare. We both turned around and started walking to the club, as Laurel shouted have fun from behind us.

"Hey," Shouted Belly as we walked to the club, I looked up and saw Jeremiah. "Jeremiah," Said Belly, trying to get his attention.

"Oh, my God. Uh, Belly. Wow. I didn't even recognize you." He said, chuckling.

"Oh, hello to you too, dear brother," I said, rolling my eyes.

"Hello, is that better?" He said, his voice laced with sarcasm.

"Much better," I replied with a fake smile.

"Tell me the truth," Belly told him, pausing. "Um, do I look like a fool?" Could she stop flirting with my brother right in front of me?

"Um." Jere started, pausing to laugh, "Uh, no, y-you look good. You look good."

"Um, let me walk you two over." He said. We started walking towards the entrance of the country club hall, where they were hosting the debutant event. "Uh, are those... are those pineapples?" He told Belly, staring at her dress. Jeremiah so liked Belly, and I was going to tease him SO hard.

"No, they're flowe... Have you seen flowers before?" Belly Replied as I walked behind them, If I didn't always feel like a 3rd wheel, I did at that time. It's always the same. No matter how hard I try, I'm always just watching from the sidelines as Belly takes center stage. Even now, with Jeremiah, my own brother, it's like I don't exist.

We finally got to the top of the stairs, we stopped at the beginning, and I scanned the room with my eyes, I saw Gigi, Nicole, and Shayla. The girl Steven was with at the bonfire. Great.
