I have a slight feeling of worry coarse its way through my body as I watch the shadow travel from the wall to the floor, and then materialize in front of me. Alastor seems very attentive to the interaction between his shadow and me, curious on how it will go.

"Please." I mutter, making his shadow cock it's head to the side, like it's also curious. "You know me, I know you do." I talk quietly to his shadow. I'm sure Alastor can hear me, it's not like I'm trying to hide this conversation from him. "Please show him I would never hurt him or steer him wrong." I ask his shadow, looking straight at it.

My look of determination and plea can easily be seen by him and his shadow. His shadow looks over me a bit, holding its hand up to its chin like it's thinking. It's at this moment I know I'm not in danger. It's just playing with me.

I take a step away from the wall and the shadow circles me, still looking like it's investigating me. I can't help but roll my eyes. "Okay, now you're just being silly." I say with a little laugh and a small smile.

This makes his shadow happy, a large smile growing on its face as it snuggles up to me and wraps its shadowy arms around me. His shadow has never been this affectionate with me before, this is new.

Even though it's just his shadow, the hug still feels warm. It's a little surprising. It holds me tight and close. I can hear the sound of an audience track come from the shadow. It sounds like a studio audience going 'aw' during a tender moment of a TV show. His shadow is being so noticeably affectionate with me. Is it just going over the top to show Alastor? Or is it displaying Alastor's deeper feelings?

I'm thinking too much about this! Regardless, this should be the proof he needs!

I look over at Alastor, his shadow still hugging me tightly. "Is this enough to show you that I mean you no harm?" I ask him. "When I said we were friends, I meant it." I explain.

Alastor looks a bit surprised, probably by how his shadow is acting towards me. "I suppose my shadow wouldn't be this friendly with just anyone." I hear him say, like he's still thinking about it. "Okay." He finally lets up.

His shadow stops hugging me and goes back over towards him. It makes gestures like it's laughing, quickly followed by a laugh track audio sound.

"Oh, you hush now!" Alastor quips at it, looking away from both me and his shadow.

I can't help but laugh. "He's a troublemaker alright." I walk closer to Alastor, pulling the chair back up and sitting in it again. "Just like you." I mention.

Before Alastor can say anything else, the door to his room bursts open. This causes us to look at Lucifer, holding a plate of food with a concerned look on his face.

"(y/n)!" Lucifer says somewhat urgently. He notices that Alastor is awake and then looks back at me. "I heard some ruckus from the room and wasn't sure what happened. Are you okay?" He looks back at Alastor, his eyes shifting to a red color as his face looks angrier. "Did he hurt you?" Lucifer is asking me but staring daggers at Alastor.

"No, Lucifer. I'm fine. I-" before I can continue with my explanation, Alastor interrupts.

"Forgive me." This statement makes both Lucifer and I look at Alastor in shock. Did he just apologize? Lucifer's eyes shift back to their normal color. "I'm having some trouble remembering a lot of things right now. When I woke up and saw her, I wasn't sure who she was and instantly went into a defensive mode." Alastor explains apologetically to Lucifer.

"Please know, I didn't mean to cause your girlfriend any harm." Alastor continues. Lucifer and I both haven't said anything yet. Does Alastor think... Lucifer and I...?

"Oh, no!" I put my hands up and start shaking them. "Lucifer-"

"I'm not too angry you attacked my precious ducky." Lucifer interjects coolly. This makes me look over at him with quite a glare. What does he think he's doing? "I mean, she's so important to me. She's the love of my life. In fact..." Lucifer walks closer to me, still holding a plate of food, which I now realize is a stack of pancakes and a glass of orange juice. Does he know it's not breakfast time right now?

Once Lucifer is standing next to me with the food, he kneels on one knee, still holding the plate of food. "(y/n), would you do me the honors and make me the happiest King of Hell and marry me?" Lucifer sounds so sincere.

"Lucifer! What the fuck?!" I yell at him.

"Please." Lucifer still hasn't broken his act. "Please, accept these pancakes as a token of my undying love for you." He continues, holding the tray up to me.

"Oh my God." I mutter, holding my head in my hand, mortified.

"I'm... starting to feel like I made a mistake." Alastor interjects as he sits up a bit more.

"Your intuition is usually spot on, Alastor. Trust it this time!" I look over at him, madly blushing from this entire scenario.

Finally, Lucifer bursts into laughter and stands back up, still holding the tray. "Oh, this is hilarious! Seems like you really do have memory loss!" He laughs as he hands me the plate of food and puts his hands on his hips. "Just so you know, we're best friends, Alastor." Lucifer says to him with a smile.

Alastor looks from him over to me, as if he's unsure of Lucifer's statement. I wasn't expecting this conversation, so I ended up taking a bite of my pancake. I just need a few seconds to finish chewing so I can explain to Alastor.

The few seconds of silence feel like minutes, but I finally get my bite down. "You're not." I correct Lucifer, who looks at me with the biggest puppy dog eyes.

"But we could be." Lucifer pouts.

"So, we're enemies?" Alastor asks me for more clarification.

"Well... enemies is a strong word." They're both so insanely powerful, I'd hate to see them truly fight. That could be disastrous for everyone! "More like, annoying neighbors." I look over at Lucifer, who shrugs at my explanation. He didn't exactly disagree with me.

"So... why is he in my room?" Alastor continues questioning as he looks from me to Lucifer.

Lucifer looks offended. "Oh, well first off, fuck you." He flips Alastor off with his middle finger. "I helped patch you up, buddy." He explains.

"That is true." I interject quietly between pancake bites.

"Second, I came to give (y/n) food. She refused to leave your side while you were unconscious." Lucifer explains.

This makes me blush even more than earlier; he didn't have to explain that! I try not to make eye contact with either of them as I continue eating.

"Well, I'll get out of your way then." Lucifer waves as he leaves. "Hope you like the food, (y/n)!" He says cheerfully. "Oh, and glad you're not dead, or whatever." Lucifer says to Alastor very unenthusiastically as he shuts the door on his way out.

There's a lot of silence in the room as I continue eating pancakes. What am I supposed to say now?

"I'm going to need you around for a while." Alastor states confidently, making me look up at him. "I'm afraid without your truthfulness, others might try and take advantage of my... memory loss." He explains as he looks over at me. "Will you help me?" He asks.

I swallow my bite of pancakes and smile. "Of course."
