Nova's P. O. V:

As I continue pelting my enemy with explosions, Thor calls out to me, "Nova! Nova, stop! He's down. You don't have to continue anymore."

"Why? He got away with killing my friend! Why should I show him the same mercy?" I return without taking my eyes off my enemy.

"Because there are other ways to serve justice, and killing isn't it," Says Thor, shaking his head. "Please, stop, and I promise you he will get what he deserves."

I hesitate in my next attack, wanting to continue but Thor's words were getting to me. I close my eyes and let out a sigh as I lower my arm.

"Fine. You win, Thor," I mutter, turning to him.

"You should have ended me when you had the chance," Says a low voice from behind me.

"Nova, watch out!" Thor screams, but it was too late as I'm hit in the back with a powerful lightning bolt that makes me scream.

The electricity soon dies down and I collapse on the ground. I hear Thor running to The Lightning Man before taking him out with his own powerful strike.

Then I succumb to blackness.

⚡️⚡️⚡️

I wake up sometime later to a familiar white room and squint my eyes. I see sunlight pouring in, so it must be daytime.

I turn my head to see my mum, who has auburn hair and green eyes, sitting on the chair beside me with her chin in her hands as dad, who I look exactly like, paces the room, dressed in his business suit as always, and Thor leans against one wall.

"Mum? Dad?" I whisper, gaining all their attention.

"Nova!" Mum exclaims, hugging me as I sit up. She sobs. "You're alive!"

"Why are you here? You guys are normally too busy to see me," I question.

"The hospital contacted us after Thor brought here when you defeated The Lightning Man," Dad explains. "Your mum was able to easily get away from work but I had to do a little convincing."

I meet Thor's eyes as mum pulls away, wiping away her tears. "I was so worried that you weren't going to wake up. The doctor said that the lightning had struck you in a spot that would've killed you, and that you had only a very slim chance of surviving. They'd done everything they could to bring you back."

I put a hand to my forehead as I say in disbelief, "So, I was pretty much dead. How the hell did I survive?"

"We don't know, but we're glad you did," Says dad as he shakes his head, immense relief evident in his voice. "I'll go let the nurse know you're awake."

He wanders off, smiling for first time I've seen in long time.

"So, how long was I out for?" I ask.

"Nearly three weeks," Answers Thor, making my eyes widen. "After I took out The Lightning Man, Fury had his men deal with him. I don't think he'll be troubling you anymore."

I lean back against my bed, shocked. The man who had haunted me for years, is finally gone.

My nightmare is finally over.
