Chapter 31

Nova's P. O. V:

Tony takes out a device that's like a phone

"Wor... thy..." Says a low, raspy voice, causing all of us to turn around. Behind us is a battered, hunched over robot with an angular head. "No..." The robot turns around to face us as it steps toward us. "How could you be worthy? You're all killers."

"Stark," Cap says, the both of us now standing.

"JARVIS," Tony says wearily.

"I'm sorry. I was asleep." The robot grunts as it swivels its head around. "I was a dream."

"Reboot. Regenerate the buggy suit," Tony says as he taps the screen.

"This is terrible!" The robot mutters, putting a hand to his head. "I was tangled, and it... strings... I'd killed the other guy. He was a good guy."

I ask in shock, "You killed someone?"

"Wouldn't have been my first call, but that's the real world. We're faced with ugly choices," Says the robot.

"Who sent you?" Thor asks.

The robot puts a hand to his ear and a voice says, sounding like Tony's, "I see a suit of armor around the world."

I glance at Tony to see his jaw tightening as his deep brown orbs widen.

"Ultron!" Bruce breathes in shock.

"In the flesh!" Ultron says, straightening. "Though, no. Not yet. Not this Christmas." Thor clenches his fingers around the hammer's hilt. "But I'm ready." Maria sneakily readies her pistol. "I'm on mission."

"What mission?" Nat asks.

"Peace in our time," Ultron says before two more robots explode through the walls behind him.

Cap kicks up the table in front of him to protect him, but the robot doesn't stop and rams right into it, knocking the table over and into Cap. Cap lands on the floor, the table collapsing before us.
