As Jin stepped out of the room, he was greeted by the vastness of the mansion. His eyes widened, taking in the gleaming marble floors and expansive halls. This place was enormous—two village families could comfortably live here! He felt a wave of uncertainty wash over him as he wandered, unsure of where to go.
Just as he was about to give up and retreat, he heard a familiar voice call out, “Ru-ru?” Jin’s heart raced as he recognized it as his son’s. He bolted down the hall, nearly tripping over his own feet, until he found himself in a massive kitchen. The sight that met him stole his breath away.
There, at a huge dining table, was his little Haru, giggling and happily digging into a stack of pancakes, his face smeared with syrup. Jungkook was leaning casually against the table, a small smile playing on his lips as he watched Haru with an expression that Jin couldn’t quite decipher. Surrounding them were two unfamiliar faces, one of whom was animatedly talking to Haru.
“Ruru! What are you doing here?” Jin exclaimed as he rushed over to his son, worry bubbling within him.
“Oh Appa, you’re awake! Are you better now?” Haru beamed, his big, bambi eyes sparkling. “Scary uncle said you’ll be fine. Many docies came to see you, and they said you’re okay—just tired!”
Jin held Haru close, surprised by the news that doctors had come to check on him. Did Jungkook arrange this? He glanced at Jungkook, who seemed preoccupied, scanning the room with an air of confidence.
“Are you okay now, Papa?” Haru asked, looking up with concern.
“Ah, yes, I’m fine… What are you doing, baby? You know I was worried,” Jin replied softly, smoothing Haru’s messy hair.
“I’m eating, Appa! Look, this new uncle…” Haru pointed excitedly. “Uncle Jimin made me pancakes! Look, this one looks like a smiley face!” He held up a pancake adorned with syrup, proudly displaying his breakfast masterpiece.
Jin’s confusion deepened as he took in the two unfamiliar faces. One of them had a playful smile, and the other had a strikingly pretty face.
“Hi! I’m Jimin, the uncle he’s talking about. Nice to meet you!” the cheerful one said, waving enthusiastically.
“And this is my boyfriend, Taehyung,” he added, motioning to the other man.
“Yes, that’s me! You’re one pretty face; no wonder the mafia’s so hooked,” Taehyung said with a playful grin, his eyes twinkling.
At this, Jungkook shot Taehyung a death glare that could freeze lava. Jin, however, was lost in a mix of emotions—confusion, surprise, and a bit of flattery.
“Wait, what do you mean by ‘hooked’?” Jin asked, his brows furrowing in genuine concern.
“Oh, don’t mind him!” Jimin interjected with a laugh. “Taehyung just likes to tease. We’ve heard a lot about you from Jungkook. You know, he usually doesn’t bring people around. You must be special!”
Jin’s cheeks flushed at the compliment, but he couldn’t shake off the unsettling feeling of being at the center of a mafia lord's world. As he turned to Jungkook, he caught a glimpse of something—was that a hint of pride in Jungkook’s expression?
“Yeah, well, special or not, I just want to take care of my son,” Jin replied, crossing his arms defiantly. “I still don’t understand what’s going on!”
“Relax, pretty face,” Jungkook said, a teasing lilt to his voice. “You’re safe here. Just think of it as an extended vacation—until you get back on your feet.”
Jin’s mind raced. Vacation? In a mafia mansion? “I don’t need a vacation! I need to get back to my normal life!” he argued, his voice rising with each word.
