Next morning, Alexandra woke up to an empty spot next to her. She kicked the sheets and woke up from the bed. She took a shower and changed into some simple tees and shorts. Walking out of her room, she heard the TV on downstairs. It's definitely Dawne who was listening to the morning feeds.

She went downstairs and saw Olee playing near the couch with his Legos. Her eyes shifted to Dawne who was sitting half naked on the couch in only his boxers. A typical morning in their house except no smiles that outshined the sun and no good morning greetings, only a suffocating tension. But Olee greeted her with his toothy grin and ran up to her, jumping into her arms.

"Morning, sweetie.", she softly said and ruffled his furry head, giving a few comforting scratches.

She went to the kitchen and started to prepare breakfast. Her ears were listening to the news but the voices in her head were just loud and replaying the last night events.

Dawne has been staring at the TV but nothing was going inside his head. He occasionally looked back at the woman in the kitchen who was lacking her usual early morning energy and that melodic humming while she cooked. All he heard now her cooking, nothing else.

Olee was sitting on the counter, helping her by washing the fruits and vegetables, putting the bread on the toaster, arranging the plates and glass. Usually Dawne did this when he helped her in the kitchen while Olee playing either outside on the swing or inside with his enormous number of toys. Today, Olee helped her and never left her side the whole time.

Dawne noticed how balanced Olee was, he was trying to calm him down when Dawne left the house last night. Then once they returned, he comforted Alexandra and never left her side. Now, he was filling up Dawne's morning routine with her in the kitchen. For someone as small as him, he had such a big heart to handle anything in a calm way, despite his given notorious trait.

That put a faint and proud smile on Dawne as he turned back to the TV. He turned it off and went upstairs to take a shower.

Alexandra finished cooking the breakfast, she waited for Dawne to come down. Olee dug in already, halfway through finishing his plate. Just when she heard Dawne's footsteps coming down the stairs, she was ready to face him and apologize to him. Dawne walked into the kitchen, adjusting the collar on his freshly put on black shirt.

Before her eyes could take him in completely, her phone next to her plate rang. Her fingers took the phone and pressed the answer button once she saw the caller ID.

Placing the phone to her ear, she said, "Claire?"

"Hey, Alexa!"

"Hi, what's up?", she asked tentatively, wondering why her bestie had called her in the morning.

"I wanted to call you last night but I was at the bar with my friends. So I'm calling you now.", Claire replied with a chuckle.

"Oh, okay."

"So....I quit my job!! Finally!!", Claire cheered on the other end.

"Oh, great.", Alexandra said, forcing to sound excited but ended up sounding off.

"Yeah.", Claire sensed it quickly.

"Great. Great. That's...good.", Alexandra tried again but Claire already noticed it.

"Okay, what is wrong with you?"

Alexandra tried to form a coherent sentence but ended up stuttering, "Uh...no. I'm good. I'm good. I'm just... I'm just tired this morning."

"No. Every time I call you, you sound off lately, like you are hiding something from me. What is it?"

"Claire, I'm not hiding anything.", she lied.
