The week went by pretty quickly. Alexandra was staying the weekend at home with Olee while Dawne went to work as Lancy called in for work since there was a client's appointment that Saturday.
Alexandra dropped him at work and came back home with Olee. She bought him another new RC car on the way. She just loved showering him with toys and gifts. She could never get enough of the excitement filled smile on his face everytime she bought him a toy.
Olee played with the new RC car outside under the tree. Alexandra did the usual weekend cleaning and laundry. Around noon, Dawne called her in his lunch break and he said her that he has planned a surprise this evening.
Then she prepared lunch for her and Olee. They both ate together and she decided to play with him in the living room with his Legos. She was really surprised by the fact that Olee build many things just by learning from the catalogue given with the set while she was having a little trouble to figure some things out, he was able to do it easily.
She quietly observed him with a curious smile while he build a new house while cooing and making some sounds.
"He is truly smart and brilliant.", she thought and she started to think about his true story that Dawne shared with her.
Then how he was quite confused by the fact that Olee was non-verbal and physically small for someone his age. According to Dawne, Olee is almost two years old and comparing with a human child, Olee must be equivalent to a school aged child. Physicallly, he was too small but his cognitive and social skills, brain development were insane.
Alexandra thought for a few minutes and an idea popped up on her mind. She looked at Olee and called him to the couch.
"Olee, come here."
He instantly obeyed, jumping on her lap and ready to listen to whatever she was about to tell him.
"Now, I want you to repeat after me. Okay?"
Olee looked at her tentatively, scratching his head.
"Say Alexa. Alexa. Alexa.", she slowly repeated for him, emphasizing each syllable.
Olee just cooed in response and started to sign her name.
"No, no. Try to repeat after me. Alexa. Al-ec-sa."
Olee just cooed again with a smile.
"Okay, maybe it's hard for you.", she said and decided to choose other word but then she remembered, "Okay, how about Dawne? Say Dawne. Dawne. Repeat after me. Dawne."
Olee just sat on her lap silently, staring at her as she repeated his big friend's name again and again.
"Come on. Repeat after me. Dawne. Daaawwne.", she tried to at least pull a familiar sound out of him but Olee was not making any sound.
She gave up with a sheepish smile, "No? Okay."
She placed a kiss on his forehead and petted him, softly scratching his furry head. Olee went back to playing, jumping off her lap.
She took a little nap on the couch and when she woke up, it was five in the evening. She saw Olee in front of the TV, watching some cartoons with his head close to the screen.
"Olee, don't sit too close to the screen.", she croaked out in her sleepy voice and sat up.
Without taking his eyes off the screen, he came and sat on the couch next to her.
Patting him lovingly, she asked him, "Can I get you some snacks?"
Olee was too engrossed in watching the cartoons and he didn't reply. She chuckled to herself and went to the kitchen, bringing two chocolate chips cookies for him.
