It was midnight when Anjali's phone started ringing. Without looking at the screen, she answered in a sleepy voice, "Hello?"

"Bun, come downstairs." The familiar voice jolted her awake.

"Aryan?

"Aryan? You're here?" Anjali asked rushing to her window. She pulled back the curtain and, sure enough, there he was—standing outside, looking up at her window with a playful smile. When he saw her, he waved like an excited kid.

"What are you doing here so late?" she asked, her voice still laced with confusion.

"I didn't get to say a proper goodbye earlier, so I came now," Aryan replied, grinning. "Now hurry up and come downstairs!"

Anjali sighed, but a smile tugged at her lips. "Alright, alright, I'm coming," she said, her heart racing a little faster as she hung up.

She quickly grabbed a shawl, glancing at herself in the mirror before slipping quietly out of her room.

Reaching the front door, she carefully unlocked it and stepped outside. The cool night air hit her skin as she walked toward him. Aryan stood by the gate, his eyes lighting up when he saw her.

"Took you long enough," he teased, his smile softening.

She rolled her eyes and said,

"If you tell a girl to come outside this late at night, do you think she's going to rush down, making noise for the whole house to hear? Or do you think she'll sneak out quietly so no one wakes up and asks where she's going at this hour?"

He laughed at her sarcasm, then without warning, gently pulled her close by the waist.

Anjali gasped, her heart skipping a beat as she found herself inches away from him. The sudden closeness made her pulse quicken, and for a moment, she forgot what she was about to say.

Aryan's playful grin softened as his eyes locked with hers.

"I wasn't thinking about the house," he whispered, his voice low and teasing. "I was only thinking about seeing you."

The intensity in his gaze sent a shiver down her spine. Anjali tried to keep her cool, but his closeness made it impossible. She could feel the warmth of his breath against her skin, making her heart pound louder in her chest.

"Koi dekh lega (Someone will see us)," she whispered, gently pushing him away.

"Haan pura mohalla toh verma ji ki beti ka romance dekhne ke liye jaga hua hoga na?(Oh yaa the whole neighborhood must be awake at this hour just to watch Verma ji's daughter having a romantic moment, right?)" Aryan teased, pulling her close again, this time holding her tighter.

"And so what if someone sees us? You're engaged to me," he said, glancing at her ring finger before intertwining their hands.
