I filled Grace in on everything from the other day. I haven't spoken to Annika since then. Grace noticed that and I finally caved in. We don't know what Dahlia's game plan is. I guarantee she's pissed off for being in that dimensional prison for twenty four years.
"So, are we gonna kill her?"
"We? No. Me? Yes."
Grace has long been considered a honorary Mikaelson. As much as I don't want to involve her in our family drama, she will already be roped into it one way or another.
Someone bumps into me, causing me to drop my phone. I snatch it and look at the culprit. Millie Chen stands in front of me like a deer in headlights.
She's been in my life for the entirety of it like Grace. Our mother's were best friends growing up here in Beacon Hills. For some reason I just never felt connected with Millie.
"Do you need glasses?" I ask. "Because you clearly can't see where you're going."
I walk around her. Grace wants to apologize. I know she does. She usually wants to.
"You know it costs nothing to be nice."
I turn around to Millie.
"Shutting the fuck up is also free."
"Leave her alone, Maddy."
Lydia walks past me.
"Whatever you say, Dear Sister."
I turn around as Grace and I continue walking. While I clung to Grace, Lydia clung to Millie. They've been best friends our whole lives. Lydia doesn't care for many people like me. She's never really allowed herself to.
It's something we have in common as twins. My mother gave Lydia to her younger sister Natalie when we were born. Why? I don't know. It never was explained to us. I think it's because Natalie couldn't have children of her own. My mother's only rule was that Lydia kept her given last name.
"You could be nicer to her."
Grace is and always will be the light to my darkness. She's so sweet and loves to love.
"I could." I say. "But I won't."
"Lucy will not like that."
I roll my eyes. I love Lucy like an aunt because that's pretty much what she is. But sometimes she tries too hard. She acts so high and mighty like my mother.
"Madelyn."
I ignore the voice. I can't really tell who it is trying to talk to me from the Other Side. Part of me doesn't really want to know.
"Maddy."
I turn around and look at Jeremy. He steps in between Grace and I, putting his arms the both of us.
"How is my favorite mutant and sister doing?"
"What do you want, Jere?"
"I heard you're being rude to my girlfriend."
I can feel Grace's eyes on me. She tells me repeatedly to be nice to Millie. I try. Kinda. It's just a second nature. I don't even really know why I do it.
"Me rude?" I say. "Please."
"You're literally the meanest person I know."
"I take that as a compliment."
I smack his chest.
"Stop tormenting her, Mads." He says. "I mean it."
I push him away. I stop and turn to him.
"Or what? Gonna bite me?"
He tilts his head. I've always been close to Connor and Alaina but my bonds with Jeremy and Lydia are stronger. We all shared a womb together and we were born minutes apart. He's one of the few people in the planet I will actually listen to.
"Fine."
I know how much Millie means to both him and Lydia. And as much as I don't really care for her, I will be nice to her for him.
"You're the best."
He kisses my head before walking away. I look at Grace who's smirking.
"Don't even."
"Look at you being noble."
"Shut up."
"You have a heart after all."
We walk outside together as I flip her off.
