After talking to her aunt Monica had gotten a plane ticket for the next morning at 9:45 to fly to Vermont and see her mother. She didn't know how long she would be there so she packed almost all of her clothes only leaving behind 2 pairs of flip flops a sweater and four T-shirts that she realized didn't fit her anymore. All of her clothes and shoes took up 2 suitcases, she knew it would be an expensive flight so she would use half of the college money she had been saving up for the past 2 years for the plane ride. Before she went to bed that night she called up Lib whom she hadn't spoken too in 3 weeks because Lib was always busy but surprisingly she answered. "Hi Monica I miss you so much! Happy Birthday! How are you?" Then Monica went into detail about everything that had happened to her that day and thanked Lib for wishing her a happy birthday. Lib explained that she had been planning to surprise Monica and come to Michigan for 2 days but since Monica was leaving she would rearrange her flight to be in Vermont an hour after Monica!
After saying goodbye to Aunt Minnie who she hadn't been away from for more then a weekend she started crying because she would miss her tremendously but she quickly dried them as she got onto the plane.
Finally she was in Burlington, Vermont she had looked up online that Lake Champlain was here and she hoped Kimberly lived close enough for her to have a balcony over the lake because she missed her's already. After an hour of waiting Lib finally arrived and they both ran to each other and hugged for what felt like 5 minutes. As they were walking out a man in a butlers outfit was holding a sign next to a limo that said "Monica Avery" so Monica not expecting this went over and asked if he worked for Kimberly and then asked if he was the man who called them. He said no he didn't call them but yes he worked for Kimberly so Monica and Lib got into the limo. As they drove Lib asked so many questions about Kimberly but Monica really didn't know any answers she never really had the chance to ask Aunt Minnie. As they pulled into the long paved driveway they parked right in front of a mansion that had at least 90 acres of grass and trees and there were horse stables. It was extraordinary! The man carried there luggage inside and upstairs and a maid walked in the main doorway which was huge. "Hello I am Elise and I will be taking care of any of your household needs while you stay and the man, he probably didn't introduce himself, is your driver while you stay, his name is Roger." Monica asked Elise where Kimberly was as Roger led Lib to her room and Elise told her that she was taking a nap but as soon as she awoke Elise would come and get Monica to meet Kimberly. Out of the corner of her eye Monica saw a man hurry past outside and when Elise noticed her startled look she reassured her that it was just there Gardner Terrance then she led Monica to her room which was right next to Lib's. Though Lib's room was bigger she didn't mind because it felt at home especially since she had a balcony and Lib didn't so she could look out to the garden and she could see the horse stables. Lib went to bed because she was tired from the trip and Monica sit in the chair on her balcony looking out at the garden which had trees decorated with lights and she caught and glimpse of the Gardner again she could tell he was a little older then she and very handsome and strong. She then got up and called Aunt Minnie telling her about the beautiful house and the handsome stranger and Lib and how she was gonna go and see if Kimberly was awake yet and then they said there love you's and good bye's and hung up. Monica quietly found Elise and asked if she could see Kimberly but Elise said she was still asleep and breakfast would be served at 10am so they would have to meet then. She headed to her room leaving the balcony doors open for a nice breeze and fell sound asleep.
