Yoongi's P.O.V.
"Hey, sorry to startle you with my knocking."
I showed her what I had in hand.
"Coffee?"A half smile. "I'd like that.. Thanks."
She took a sip and seemed surprised.
"You know how I take my coffee?""He babbles about your quirks all the time. I just remembered."
I nudged my head towards our friend.
"How is he?"I'd never seen her so soft and gentle that the way she brushed his hair out of his face.
"Severely dehydrated and clinically exhausted. He'll be at the hospital for a few days for sure.. He's stubborn. He'll recover.""Trying to make a joke?"
That. That was a sarcastic laugh. "I'm SO upset. You have no idea."
Shit. "We didn't know how he felt until a few days ago."
"I'm living with him. I'm sleeping next to him almost every single night and I missed it."
"Mina, it's not your fault."
"Is it his then? He wouldn't be here if the company didn't push a tour, then solo comebacks and your comeback!"
Yoongi, shut it. She's angry. Let her air it out.
"You f*cking built this company up and this is their thanks? LOOK AT HIM. I can't fix it.. I can't fix this.."I forget you're pretty new to this every single time I see you.. You're not complaining about it from your own perspective. You're mad for him. You're worried for him.
"It's not yours to fix. We're bringing this to PD-nim as soon as we know that he's okay."I had kept my distances, but I inched closer when her volume dropped. She held his hand in hers. She wasn't talking to me.
"Moonie.. Wake up. If we could have rescheduled for tomorrow, you would've been fine. You would've stayed on your feet. And you sprained your wrist again when you dropped to the floor, you idiot..
I'd do anything for you to get better. Please, open your eyes and say it's a joke.."My hand on her shoulder startled her. "I'm so sorry. I didn't know you were so jumpy."
"I- it's okay.. I was in my head."
You look guilty. You look so guilty.
"Mina.. What did you do?""I told him a lie to cheer him up."
Oh dear. Why did I read her so directly? She held back her tears.
"Don't make me say it right now, in front of him.""Sign it to me. I'll figure it out. I'm a smart dude."
She did and.. F*ck. I get why she felt bad. I made sure to not lower my voice.
"I'm sorry. You have no idea how sorry I am."She shook her head. "Don't be. It was bound to happen."
In 20 years, not now.
"Can we.. not talk about this now? I need to be there for him."I took a seat on the couch by his bed. "I can watch him. You need to sleep."
She glanced at her watch. "Visiting hours have been over for a while. I'm surprised they let you in."
I made her laugh. "I'm very charming, you see?"
"I can tell. Listen, someone needs to hold the guys together and it's not gonna be me. I'm a lot more mild than Tae at the moment. Let's be honest, he's about to burst out in anger. He's very upset, but he's not pointing the fingers at the right place."
"I'll try to keep them in check."
When Joon first spoke about her and brought her over.. I thought he loved her harder than she did, that he invested and risked more than her. Boy was I wrong. Seeing her like this proved it again.
"Dongsaeng, take good care of him. Okay?""Promised."
Mina's P.O.V.
Who could sleep while someone important to them is unwell? I could never understand, but I was NOT a night owl. Suga's coffee kept me awake, barely.
"Hey? English speaking friend to sleepyhead noona."..Sorry.." Get used to the muffled sound.
"Jake?""How are you holding up? Is sunbae fine? Can I help you with anything? I brought you breakfast."
He did that? For me?"I.. thank you. So much.. I'm holding up.." I think.
I brushed my hand across my face, waking myself up.
"He didn't move an inch.. And food is more than enough help. Just being here means a lot to me."
Don't give me that look. It looks like pity.. or compassion. I could never tell. They look the same to me.."Mina noona." He put the bag of food down.
"Need company?""Do you mind? I'm sorry I'm missing practice today.."
It's not the first time I let his group down.He smiled and sat down.
"We're gonna start thinking you don't like us much."
A laugh.
"Do NOT take this seriously. It's a joke. I don't know how sensitive you are right now."The joke wasn't what made me chuckle.
"I'd say I have a heart of glass at the moment."
My nose focused elsewhere.
"What's in the bag?"Jake gladly opened it. "A few things. I got you a few cans of iced matcha, a bulgogi kimbap roll.. You make those all the time, so I figured you'd eat the store-bought ones. Oh- And I got a few snacks."
He gave it to me and.. I was confused.
"You didn't get anything for yourself? Share with me.""All yours." He denied.
"Like you said, I have practice to go to, but text me as much as you want to. Okay?""Sure thing.. Thanks a lot."
We did our little handshake, and I was so thankful for the caffeinated iced drinks. They'd be useful.Taehyung's P.O.V.
"Meg, why don't you go?"
Mimi would rather have her than anyone else, no?"I'm not good at comforting people. It's not our dynamic. Even you can tell."
I could.. It just sucked.
"I'm a great listener, but that's it. I wouldn't be that much help."It didn't reduce how upset I was.. I ripped the guys a new one yesterday.. Suga hyung left, I got into a screaming match with Jimin and Hobi hyung.
I felt so ashamed, acting like an angry kid.. I stormed out and I was staying over with the ones who ran after me.
"You brought her car back to their place. That's helpful."I got a grin out of her. "True. Thinking about going?"
I wanted to! But, it might not be a good idea. "What if I get angry again?"
"Go for your hyung and for your friend. I don't think you'll get angry there." So.. I took her advice.
.
.
.
I stood by the door for a few minutes. There was someone in the room with them. It had to be a nurse. Mimi's eyes went from her right to up at the person speaking to her. There were a few nods.. I couldn't hear what they said, but the bittersweet smile on my friend's face seemed like good news.Come on Tae, get inside. I made my way in, silently. Min's eyes met mine, her small grin was so welcoming..
"I heard that you caused quite a commotion yesterday.""Not my proudest moment.. I'm just so angry at everyone.."
The nurse left. I closed the door and stood behind her.
"You look optimistic.""Maybe that's just the caffeine and the fact I had an actual meal in the past 24 hours. But yeah.."
Hyung's mom's stew had to be pretty far, huh?
She leaned back on me. If I patted her hair, she'd fall asleep, that was certain.
"Want good news?"My dongsaeng was still in her blue suit.. I should've brought her dance bag Meg picked up at the theater.
"I do. Hyung has some colors on his face."She nodded. "You noticed, huh? The fever went back down and the fluids are doing him good. He opened his eyes a few times. I don't think it was conscious though."
The relief I felt. The relief I felt for her too..
"Want anything?""Why is everyone coming in here asking me that? You don't want the real answer."
Min didn't sound upset, more curious."I know what you'd say."
That's why I'd like you to voice it. You should."Tae, don't make me sappy. Please."
She gave in.
"I want you to pinch me and that these past three days didn't happen."
Close enough. We want him back too, Min. Soon enough, I hope.
