Chapter 217

Mina's P.O.V.
Today was quite unusual. I took another shower even if I had one when I got home last night. I washed my hands I don't know how many times. I applied hand sanitizer like crazy and I bought a new fabric face mask.
I made sure not to wear perfume and put my softest, comfiest clothes.
I knocked on the apartment door and waited, rubbing hand sanitizer on my hands.
I spoke as softly as I could.
"Hey, Dawn. Thanks for inviting me over. I didn't think you'd have anyone in so soon."

He motioned me in.
"Jessi really wanted you to come over. My parents came over a few days ago. Her parents are flying in today."

"Babe, don't just keep my girly to yourself. Let her in to see him."

She seemed in a decent mood!
"I'll be here in a bit."
I took my coat off and washed my hands before going into the living room. I didn't dare to sit.
"How have you been?"

My eonni laughed.
"A new mom? I'm sleep deprived and don't understand how that little thing in my arms works. I love it."

"I'll do a few chores while you catch up, okay?" He kissed his girlfriend.
"Mina brought us food."

I argued before she could.
"You don't want to have to think about cooking or ordering right now. I made things we've eaten together in the past. Is it fine?"

Last time I've had a new mother in my family/friend circle, I was 15. It's been a while.
"You're a godsend.."
I did good! Her exhausted sigh said it all.
"Dawn's parents were nice enough to cook for us when they visited, but we've been surviving on snacks if I'm being honest."

I couldn't hide my smile.
"I can imagine that. Now you have a few in the freezer."

She pat the couch next to her.
"Don't just stand there."

"You're sure it's okay?"
I did so when she insisted.

The two weeks old was so tiny..
"You're kidding? This reaction is basically why I asked if you wanted to come over... And because you're the only one in the industry that's awake and ready at 7am.. on her own will."

I muffled my chuckle. "Fair enough. Did you want me to do some dishes or go grocery shopping for you?"

The LOOK on her face. "How dare you say stupid things like that?"

Well.. "Want to take a shower?"

"Really?" Her eyes went wide.
"You'd watch him? You're sure?"

Hesitation came to me. "I-if you trust me with him. I don't know if you're fine with that. I'll stay seated and not move an inch."

Jessi's smile was what I came here for.
"I trust you with my autopsy. Come on.. Copy what I'm doing and I'll hand him over."

I positioned myself in the seat like she had been seconds ago.
"Is that good?"

"Yeah, it is! You know the deal."
How the HELL would she think I know about this?
"Support his neck, watch his head. Kaejo loooves when people talk, it keeps him asleep. If there's anything-"

"I'll ask Dawn." A tiny human was sleeping on me! So cute.
"Take as long as you want. I got you."

"Girl, I can't thank you enough."

I glanced down at the little guy.
"I'm not mom, but I hope you won't mind for a bit."

"You can shift a bit if you're uncomfortable."

I denied the statement the father of the child made.
"I'm fine really."
Looking at the both of them...
"He has your nose."

The COMPLIMENT I just gave him. It was like he had won the lottery.
"Right? He's a handsome little man, like his dad~."
His baby voice was to die for.
