A knock sounds on my bedroom door and I look up from my papers at the desk and glance at sleeping Omer in my bed then back to the door. I walk for the door, "who is it?" I ask slowly.
"It's me, belle."
I shuffle putting on some pants then open the door quietly and lean against the door smiling.
"hey" I croon quietly, he leans in pecking my hair smiling too. "I'm sorry I left just like that in the morning." He says and I nod.
"It's okay, you had the full right to be sad... I wouldn't like any person to get stuck between me and my brother, but you, Omer and Ali are my people. Talk it out. Try to solve and warm up to each other. That's an advice from a sister to you guys."
He nods glancing behind me at Omer's slumping form," I'm glad he's sleeping. He seems like he didn't in days. "
I nod confirming," he didn't yeah. In a week. "
Surprise passes through his eyes," a week?! "
" yes, Omer doesn't... Sleep like us. He has severe insomnia."
He curses looking back at him again, "I'll leave you to it then, belle."
I smile, "good night, Joey. Oh, tomorrow we have a very important meeting. You should be present on time. As an intern, Mr. Tarik."
He chuckles waving a hand, "yes, ma'am. Night, belle."
I close the door with a click and walk towards him on the bed. I sigh through my nose looking down at him pushing back his hair from his face leaning in to kiss his forehead. I sit on the bed smiling as I look at his sleeping form; it's so peaceful, the frown that is always between his brows is gone, his jaw relaxed actually his while body is. He surprised me by coming back after two minutes of being gone, he'd said "fuck the meeting" and made out with me till we both were grasping for breath and he still wanted more, but he needed sleep, he was sleepy and he was peeling off his clothes lazily thick with sleep. The minute he got out of his clothes and hit the bed, he drifted off to dreamland.
I stand and grab the comforter from the edge of the bed splaying it above him and go to sit back at my spot on the desk. I smile to myself when he shifts for the tiniest bit to nuzzle into the fuzzy material of the blanket and get back to work listening to his breaths filling the room as he sleeps.
I enter the avenue of the first event this year arm in arm with Joe and Dionne on his other. They made up I don't know how or when, but it's clear they became friends. It's something not impossible for Joe to be honest, he is a charmer and his tongue drips of honey coated words. A person would love to he his friend or companion. Also, Joe is my intern for this year. Omer saw it fit for both of us because we're both still starting our careers at NV Valley and it was like a fix up for what he said to Joe the other day.
I had prepared Joe for everything about today and it wasn't surprising that a Mughrabi is a fast learner. I was so worried about my intern, I didn't want anything to mess up this year and I've never been more thankful for Omer to pair me up with Joe.
Dionne smiles to us before heading to greet people as her usual social butterfly self and I linger with Joe assessing the avenue. I'm wearing a white short dress today that is flared from my waist to the bottom just above my knees looking like waves of fabric and small pearls are etched to it. It's long sleeved too and I styled my hair in a half up half down hairstyle pairing my outfit with white heels as well.
Joe nudges me and smiles, "my first event huh?"
I shrug, "yeah, see how far we've reached." I talk above the music and he looks around before leaning in to speak in my ears so I can hear him better, "any tips about today?"
