ᴛʜᴇ ᴛᴠ ᴘʟᴀʏᴇᴅ another episode from another show. Aubrey didn't watch TV a lot with her mother using it almost all the time. Growing up, her time spent on the TV was at either Basil's, Sunny and Mari's, or Kel and Hero's house. There was this one show she loved, and it was on the TV now. However, it looked different from how she remembered if. It looked like a remake, but it looked so different that she wouldn't have recognized it if she hadn't seen the TV declare the name. From how much the story and actors changed, it might as well be a new show.

The TV's volume wasn't high, barely loud enough to be heard. The living room of Kel's house was filled with the sound of the episode only, he on the floor and she on the couch. She knew he never watched this show before either, but they both needed something else to focus on for a few minutes. As long as it didn't relate to Sunny, Basil, or Mari in any way, it was okay.

The episode they were watching was in the middle of whatever season it was. The story the actors acted out with their hearts made no sense to Aubrey, but it was interesting enough. Kel seemed to think so, if he didn't offer to change the channel.

The TV kept her attention on it and only it. Kel's living room felt disconnected from the rest of the world. Whatever problems she would have to deal with later were not a thing now. All that she had to focus on was the TV.

Aubrey looked over at Kel. Even though he was sitting on the floor, his back was against the couch, making it hard to see his expression from where she sat. He looked calm, though. For someone so relaxed all the time, he had been working hard to try to resolve all the issues that have come up since the last sleepover at Basil's house. She knew the situation they were in now was stressful, but she wanted him to relax. Watching TV shows would do him some good.

Her attention turned back to the TV. The show was currently showing teenagers who she assumed were friends hanging out and having fun together. She wondered if her and Kel's lives would ever return to that state of normality. It didn't look like it right now. She couldn't see herself talking to anyone like the teenagers on the show were doing so casually right now.

Except for maybe Kel. With Hero going back to college in a few weeks, Kel was the only one who understood exactly what she was going through. She didn't want to feel that aloneness she felt four years ago, and Kel was the only one she could see herself being with. Even in moments like this when they weren't talking to each other, they knew what the other had to deal with, and they understood it.

The episode was ending. The next would come on. Aubrey would stay here watching the TV until Kel decided they had better things to do or until someone else forces them to stop watching. She might not know whatever was on, but it was okay.
