ᴇᴠᴇʀʏ ᴏɴᴄᴇ ɪɴ a while, it would be hard for Aubrey to know what the date was. It normally happened during summer, but it also happened when she struggled too much. After Sunny revealed what actually happened at the recital, Aubrey struggled to remember what day it was, each one blending into each other.

She knew what today's date was, though. Today was Valentine's Day. Her first Valentine's Day with her boyfriend, Kel.

She wasn't sure when he decided she was good enough for him. After the truth, she had been spending more time with him, since he was the only other person who truly understood what she was going through. It might have been somewhere during that time he thought she was the one he wanted.

Aubrey didn't get it. She had been so mean to him and others in the last four years. She was mean, she was cruel, she was a bully, and she would've killed Basil if Hero hadn't been here. She hurt many people, including him. If she was him, she wouldn't forgive her so easily. She didn't even forgive herself.

And yet, he did. She saw the way he looked at her, and she noticed how he was more open with her. She wasn't clueless to how he chose to spend more time with her compared to anyone else, and she knew his other friends were getting sick of how much he talked about her. It was honestly a little selfish how much she let him stay with her. It felt like she was leading him on, despite the fact she felt the same way. A good person would already have broken up with him and kept him away so he wouldn't get hurt by her any more.

Aubrey wasn't a good person, though. Valentine's Day was here. Her first one with Kel. They made plans for today. He was here now, waiting for her outside her front door. It wasn't too late. She could always tell him that she was suddenly busy, that she changed her mind, that they needed to break up.

But she didn't. Aubrey opened the door and saw how happy Kel was to see her. Aubrey could admit to being a selfish person, and, taking Kel's hand and walking down Faraway Town's street with him, she was exactly that. Another day couldn't hurt anyway.
