The sects have been working on dwindling down the Wen Supervision offices in every city. Lan Zhan and I were going to assist Jiang Cheng and Zewu Jun at the Jiangling Front. I didn't realize how many people were actually missing me because I was confronted by several people when they saw I was alive and well.

"Told you," Lan Zhan said as we mounted our horses, "Wei Ying is loved."

I laughed, "we will see how that goes after the war ends," I said, "we have yet to know what all we can do. People will want to use us for our powers once they see it."

"Brother won't let that happen, and as I am courting you, you are protected by me," Lan Zhan said.

I felt my face get warm, "right," I said and cleared my throat, "I am not affiliated with any sect anymore. Won't that matter?"

"No," Lan Zhan said.

"Wei Gongzi, as Wangji's partner, it is now up to Gusu Lan to help protect you. You are affiliated with us," Zewu Jun said.

I didn't realize he was paying attention to our conversation. I grinned, "Zewu Jun, are you eavesdropping?"

Zewu Jun let out a small laugh, "not really eavesdropping if you two are conversing right next to me where I can hear you."

"Right," I said, "what about your uncle? I know I'm not necessarily his favorite person."

"Let Wangji and I handle it," Zewu Jun said, "I promise you, I will make sure you and Wangji are safe."

I smiled, "thank you."

"Plus, I owe you after what I did to you," Zewu Jun said, "I still feel bad about it."

"It's okay," I said, "I wasn't in a good place and you were just being a protective older brother. I am not mad. Plus, I don't think you could hurt me now if you tried."

"I don't plan on it," Zewu Jun said, "and it still doesn't excuse me for what I did. I could have seriously hurt you."

"I'm here and alive, aren't I," I pointed out.

"So what will happen to your people?" Zewu Jun asked.

"My grandmother has the place warded and she even placed a special ward over it to make it invisible. You need a token to get inside," I said.

"That woman is incredible," Zewu Jun said.

"And you have yet to meet her," I said.

"Ugh, I think I am okay," Zewu Jun said.

"I am affiliated with her, so if I marry, you are to go to her," I pointed out, "she told me that I am able to stay with her whenever I want and to go to her whenever I need anything. I'm sure she is also wanting a proper conversation about a courtship and engagement."

I noticed Zewu Jun getting a bit pale after hearing that, "ugh, so she is your guardian?"

"She is my last blood relative, so yes," I said, "I asked her before and she said that she can have a conversation with you about it later."

"It is true, Xiongzhang," Lan Zhan said, "though she already approved of us, she still needs to meet with you."

"And you worried about reputation," Zewu Jun said, "you and Wangji are immortals and you are under the great immortals protection."

"Huh, I guess so," I said, "but not everybody knows this though."

"They will when your engagement is announced in the future," Zewu Jun stated.

"Ugh, right," I said and cleared my throat, "Lan Zhan and I only just started courting. Let's slow this down a bit."

"Wei Ying, we will go at your pace," Lan Zhan said.

"What are you blushing for, you idiot?" Jiang Cheng asked, "since when do you get shy?"

I looked at Jiang Cheng and smiled, "are you jealous?"

"God no," Jiang Cheng said, "I have no time for love at this point. I run a sect on my own, thank you very much."

"I am doing what you wanted, you told me to get lost a long time ago, it happened just after your parents died and you still blame me for it. The Wen's have planned that invasion for months. They invaded the Lan Sect and the Nie Sect. What made you think they wouldn't come to Lotus Pier?" I argued.

"If you haven't anger Wen Chao, they wouldn't have been so severe!" Jiang Cheng spat.

I laughed, "you still think it was my fault? This is why I defected when I did. I am not taking the fall for it anymore. I have taken the fall for everything, especially from your damn mother for years. I should I left Lotus Pier sooner. I am much better off!"

"Good riddance," Jiang Cheng yelled, "Let us see how long you last on your own, bastard."

I brought my horse to a stop and turned to him. I was so angry that the world around us began to tremble, "I will do better without you!" I said, "if you keep this up, I will not hesitate to hurt you!" The sky began to fill with clouds and thunder rumbled. Lightning struck the ground next to Jiang Cheng's horse. The horse got scared and bucked Jiang Cheng off and bolted.

"Wei Ying," Lan Zhan said as he came over to me and took my hand, "calm down."

I closed my eyes and took in a deep breath. When I opened them, I felt tears rolling down my cheeks, "Lan Zhan?" I asked.

Lan Zhan got off his horse and had me do the same. He then pulled me into a hug, "It will be okay, do not let him get to you."

The sky began to clear and the trembling stopped. I hugged him back, "I am sorry," I said.

"Not your fault," Lan Zhan said, "now we know somethings that you can do."

"Only when angered," I said.

"Still an ability," Lan Zhan said. I heard Jiang Cheng return with his horse, grumbling to himself. My arms tightened around Lan Zhan for comfort, "Leave him alone."

Jiang Cheng scoffed and continued on. Zewu Jun stayed nearby to make sure we were safe. He did look worried. I felt bad for causing a scene. As I was lost in thought, I felt lips placed on my own. I relaxed immediately and closed my eyes. My arms moved to wrap around Lan Zhan's neck. It felt good to be in his arms, having him here like this. He was reassuring me in the best way possible. After a nibble on my bottom lip, Lan Zhan pulled away.

I smiled, "that helped me feel so much better," I whispered.

"Mnn, I am glad," he said, "are you okay to get moving?"

I nodded, "yeah."

I watched him mount his horse and he waited for me. I mounted my horse and I rode beside him the rest of the way.
