We were only several minutes away from Nightless City. Lan Zhan, Zewu Jun, and I have cleared out the majority of the creatures that blocked our way. It was a nice stalling tactic but it could only last for so long. After a while the rest of the groups were arriving to storm the gates. Lan Zhan and I glanced at each other knowing that it was time to let our abilities to come out.
Fighting puppets, and Wen soldiers were a lot to handle but we had to do this. We realized that our numbers were far smaller than the Wens. I sighed and started to feel the Yin energy stir in the air. I could tell Wen Ruohan was nearby as he would have to be the one to amp up the energy. I began to reach out and started to take control over the energy, commanding it to turn upon the master it served. It listed and I saw immediately that the puppets turned to fight the Wen Soldiers.
"Who dares!" I heard a rough male voice call out.
I turned to see Wen Ruohan make an appearance outside of the palace. I soon saw a dark figure make its way out behind him, Wen Zhuliu. I used the Yin Energy to stir in his body. I could feel how strong his core was, it was part of the reason why he could ruin other's cultivation. I imagine he took some of the power he crushed from each of his victims.
Lan Zhan and I nodded to each other, giving a silent agreement that it was time for us to make our move. We charged up the steps of the palace until we were close. Wen Zhuliu took it upon himself to fight us first, but I used my energy to suffocate him. I grinned and punched my fist through his solar plexus, and grabbed that pulsing energy of his. I pulled it out and saw the glowing gold orb in my hand. I smiled at Wen Zhuliu who looked at me wide eyed, and crushed it before him. Lan Zhan moved behind him and pushed Bichen through his back and out the front of his chest.
I saw movement and knew Wen Ruohan was sneaking to make a move. Without thinking, I shoved Lan Zhan and Wen Zhuliu's corpse aside and took a sword to the stomach. I could tell it was just shy of my left lung. I gripped the blade that pierced me and pulled it out.
"Sect Leader Wen, what an honor," I said with a smile, "sorry to ruin your fun."
"How are you not dead!?" He asked.
My smile grew as I moved so quick he couldn't stop me. My sword shoved through his heart. The war has ended, but there was still some people we had to find. Wen Ruohan's sons but we will find them eventually. Lan Zhan grabbed me as I began to collapse, "Lan Zhan?" I whispered, "I am cold."
"I know, please stay awake for me," he said and lifted me up, "let's get you back to heal."
I nodded and didn't protest as he hopped on his sword and flew off, "sorry," I told him, "it was a heat of the moment move."
"I know, even if you could have stopped it with your own sword before it struck you," he said. He was a bit upset and I can understand why.
"I will try to do better but you sighed up for this," I told him.
He glanced down at me and his expression softened, "you're lucky I love you."
I smiled as I felt more faint, "tired."
"Try not to fall asleep, we are almost there," he said.
I tried but I couldn't. I felt myself slip into darkness.

~*Lan Wangji POV*~
When I saw Wei Ying close his eyes I began to panic. He lost a lot of blood just from one stab. We may be immortal but he could still be harmed. I couldn't help but worry. This fool, taking a stab and not blocking it. I could tell he probably panicked and didn't want me to get hurt but he got hurt in the process. I brought him to the medical tent and the let the healer do their job.
After he was patched up, I left a letter to my brother saying I needed to get him to San Bao. I rested for a bit as the healer tended to Wei Ying, which was enough to get us home. Wen Qing and Baoshan saw us and immediately took him. I told them what the healers have done so far and they took it from there.
"This boy is so selfless it is frustrating," Wen Qing mumbled to herself as she worked.
"He has his parent's morals," Baoshan said and looked at me, "how are you dear? Are you hurt at all?"
I shook my head.
"Why don't you go and get cleaned up and rest a bit more. We will let you know if things develop," Baoshan suggested.
I did as she suggested and went to Wei Ying's room. I'm sure he won't mind me here now. I took the time to prepare a bath and clean up. I dressed in fresh robes and laid down for a while. I didn't like sleeping without Wei Ying beside me, it's something I had gotten used to.
When he was better, he and I will focus on ourselves. We had to talk with Baoshan about our marriage plans and that my brother would want to sit and discuss things. For now, everything had to be put on pause.
I wasn't normally a restless sleeper, but I could not sleep. I decided to go check on Wei Ying. When I got there, he was still unconscious. I sighed and at on the mat beside the table in the room. I prepared some tea to help calm my nerves and ended out falling asleep there on the floor. It was not comfortable but it allowed me to be in the same room as Wei Ying.
