I don't know how long I have been out since I took that elixir. All I know is once I woke up, I felt rejuvenated and the spiritual energy within my body was beyond powerful. Lan Zhan was sitting beside me. He seemed to have just woken from his meditation. I slowly sat up and I realized that that elixir did actually give me immortality. It did the same for Lan Zhan.
I realized that I still didn't have my sword. I remember the Wen Sect taking it at the indoctrination but I don't know what happened to it. Lan Zhan had his sword back so I imagine my sword was somewhere, maybe at the Jiang Sect.
"Good, you two are awake," Baoshan said upon entering the room, "as you both have been out for nearly ten days I can imagine you must be hungry."
"Ugh, yeah," I said and slowly stood up, "I feel good as new."
"I figured as much," Baoshan said, "after breakfast we can sit down and talk about some things. You have questions about your parents and you also will probably have questions about your new abilities."
I nodded, "I just wish I knew where my sword was."
Lan Zhan smiled and pulled out a Qiankun pouch from his robes. He then handed it to me, "it's here. I took it from Jiang Wanyin when he wasn't paying attention," he said.
I laughed, "really?!" I asked and checked. I pulled my sword out of the bag, "you actually have it...but is there a way to reconnect it to me? It is still bound to my old core."
"Allow me to fix that," Baoshan said and held out her hand.
I handed it to her, "thank you."
She nodded and took a good look at my sword, "this is a beautiful sword...but why Suibian? This sword has a spirit, it seems odd to name your sword something like this."
I smiled, "when it was given to me, Sect Leader Jiang asked me what I was to name it. I thought of so many other names and none of them were good. So I said 'Whatever' and the sword engraved the name to it when I said it. It seemed to take it and it trips up any person who asks me."
Baoshan laughed, "indeed a nice little gesture," she said, "you are definitely my daughter's son."
I did not say anything but at times, I actually like when people say I am like my parents. It's the only way that makes me feel connected to them sometimes. There are times where people say this and I feel a deep sense of anger towards that person because it feels like they are insulting me and my family. So what if we are more mischievous, I'd rather that then be ignorant and rude.
After eating a nice breakfast we sat down to talk further, "I told you I'd tell you what I knew of what happened. I want you to know that I thought perhaps you would be okay where you were even if the Jiangs were not who they seem. I hoped they'd do better by you but it seems that they were just as bad," Baoshan explained.
"I don't blame you, I am just going to take it as gaining experience from the world," I said.
"It was pretty miserable for you," Baoshan said, "I hope that from what I tell you, you won't be too upset at me for deciding to hope the way I did. I should have just gotten you as I realize now that they weren't going to change."
"I won't blame you, but what happened?" I asked.
Baoshan began to tell me everything, "Your father actually had a small sect of his own. You had more relatives on his side. They were very skilled fighters, it is said they had trained personal guards and assassins. A small elite place as their goal was to protect people. They didn't get involved with the others sects much. I know they were in good relations with the Nie Sect and the Lan Sect.
Sect Leader Jin was not a good person. The Jin Sect had always been working close with the Jiang Sect and they heard about your father's sect. They wanted to have them more involved with the other sects. They felt their skills needed to be shared with others.
The Jin Sect laid seige on your father's sect. The Jiang's were also behind it but they pretended to defend your father. They said they'd protect him and the remaining members of his sect if they joined the Jiang Sect. It was either join them or die. Your father already met your mother at the time so he didn't want to leave her behind. He gave in. He did, however, burn all of his possessions as he didn't want anyone else to have them. Your mother took the important things and hid them away. She actually sent them here for safe keeping.
Your parents had hidden fighting techniques that anyone would love to have. It's special because it allows you to fight without using a weapon. It is all about your own abilities. Your father's sect was full of gifted individuals and they were trained to use their abilities fight and defend. Those gifted individuals went into hiding the moment the sect was taken.
Your father hated being under Jiang Fengmian's command. He found his wife even more troublesome. Your father left when he realized that he was only being used for his skills and if he didn't have them, he would not be of any importance. He and your mother left and remained away from the sects.
From what I saw, Jiang Fengmian made it seem like your father and him were best friends. That isn't true at all. Your parents were actually best friends with your partner's parents. Your parents took refuge at Cloud Recesses for a little while. That was due to Cangse being pregnant with you, A'Ying. You have a good connection with Gusu, and Lan Qiren only gives you a hard time because he saw your potential like he saw in your parents. Perhaps he was a bit too harsh but I think if you really sat down with the old man, he'd help you also find the potential your parents would want for you."
I was a bit shocked, "so you are saying I could also be gifted?" I asked.
"Not just you, but you are connected to Wangji for a reason," Baoshan said, "Cangse and Wangji's mother felt there was something specific between you two. Cangse had the ability to give another child the opportunity to become gifted. You and Wangji both have been gifted. That gift was what made you feel more connected. You two were already tested before Wangji was given the gift. You two were fated soulmates. It was only natural that you two would meet again later in life. Your abilities would become more known as you two are together."
I smiled, "and you want to help us understand what those abilities are?"
"Yes, and luckily, your parents left behind some old scriptures to help you," she said.
I nodded and looked at Lan Zhan, "we have been more connected than we ever realized," I said.
"I am glad it is you," he said, "I am willing to share everything with you and help you."
"And I will do the same for you," I told him.
