~*Wei Wuxian's POV*~

I woke up feeling a bit tired. Almost like I slept but it wasn't a good sleep. I then remembered that I had been injured and was probably unconscious until now...however long that is anyway. I began to feel very overwhelmed. I didn't mean for this to happen. I didn't want to make anyone worry for me either.

"Wei Ying?" I heard a familiar deep voice say beside me.

"Lan Zhan?" I asked looking at him.

"Why are you crying? Are you in pain?" He asked.

I shook my head, "I'm sorry."

Lan Zhan leaned down and rested his forehead to mine, "it's alright. As worried as I was, being immortal does make me a bit more relieved to know you're okay."

"I'm still sorry," I said, "I made you worried."

"I worry because I love and care about you," Lan Zhan said.

I smiled as I touched his face, "When I saw you were going to get hurt..." I began.

"That's enough now, it's over," Lan Zhan said, "You and I are not needed anymore so now we can focus on things here."

"You want to stay with me?" I asked.

"Of course, did we not discuss this before? We are engaged and my brother will be here when things settle down in a few days to talk about wedding preparations," Lan Zhan told me.

I nodded, "I will try to be better with my safety but I cannot promise you."

"I know, which is why I am going to do what I can to protect you," Lan Zhan said, "I don't expect you to change. I like the way you are."

"I love you," I said but I wanted to say thank you. I know that's something we don't say to each other because it's not needed for us. It's just expected.

Lan Zhan's lips brushed against my own. My mouth watered at the thought of kissing him. I lifted my other arm and pulled him down to fully kiss me. He was gentle but there was a slight fierceness as well. In a way where he was being possessive. It was kind of attractive, and I liked it. We were soon interrupted by a knock. Lan Zhan pulled away slowly before getting up and letting the person in.

"Hanguang Jun," I heard Wen Qing say.

"He's awake," Lan Zhan told her.

"That's good," she said and came over to me. She sighed and flicked my forehead.

"Ow!" I whined, "why?"

"Reckless fool," she told me and had me sit up before handing me a cup, "drink."

I scowled at the cup before doing what I was told. I nearly gagged at how bitter it was, "why can medicine ever taste good?"

"To remind others to be careful, or to keep children from drinking it," Wen Qing said, "but the herbs and other remedies used tend to be that way so it's just how things are."

I sighed, "how are things here?"

"Good, Baoshan has been helping out here. She has this place hidden behind some special ward. Now that the war has ended, she wants to take more precautions for now," she explained.

"I am okay with that," I said, "A'Yuan?"

"Happy as ever," she said, "are you in pain? I can have him come see you?"

"I'm alright, let him in," I told her. She tapped my forehead again with the knuckle of her finger before leaving the room, "devil!"

Lan Zhan smiled, "she means well."

"That she does," I said, "she is like shijie but more aggressive with things."

"She is stern," Lan Zhan said, "and you are stubborn. It is needed for you."

"Whose side are you on?" I asked, a pout was probably visible on my face, "you should be comforting me, not agreeing to her aggressive behavior!"

Lan Zhan smiled, "you'll live," he said.

"Is there water somewhere?" I asked.

He nodded and got me some, "here," he said.

"Thanks," I said and drank it. I soon heard little feet running from outside the room. I giggled at how excited that kid was.

"Gege!" A'Yuan said as he entered my room.

"Hello A'Yuan," I said as he climbed up to sit with me, "you remember Lan Zhan?"

"Hi," he said.

"How are you?" Lan Zhan asked him.

"I'm good," A'Yuan said. He proceeded to tell us how he has been since we've been away, "what took you so long to come back?"

"There were bad people causing trouble. I just helped take care of them. I am home now though," I told him, "I promise."

"I did my assignments as you asked. Uncle Ning has been teaching me," A'Yuan said.

"That's good," I said and then I looked at Lan Zhan.

Lan Zhan seemed to be enjoying the moment. He was all smiles and kept watching A'Yuan and I talk. I was happy. Perhaps once we marry, I can talk to Wen Qing and Lan Zhan about giving A'Yuan a proper home.

"I have to go," A'Yuan said, "Popo will be needing me."

"Alright," I said, "be careful."

He nodded and left, "he's a good kid."

I nodded, "he is," I said, "he lost his parents when he was an infant. Wen Qing helps raise him with Wen Popo."

"We can discuss this more when we marry," Lan Zhan told me as he seemed to pick up what I was wanting to ask.

"Really?" I asked, "you'd take him in with me?"

"Of course," Lan Zhan said, "he is a good kid, he could use a nice environment to continue to grow."

I nodded and yawned, "how long was I out?"

"Just the night," Lan Zhan said, "but if you are tired, rest."

"Are you going anywhere?" I asked.

"No," Lan Zhan said, "but if you're hungry I can get you something first before you go back to sleep."

"How about after I wake again," I said, "I think the medicine she gave me made me tired."

"Alright," he said and laid beside me, "sleep, I will be here with you."

I smiled and placed a kiss on his chin. He held me closer to him. I was glad to have him. He was amazing.
