"I thought time would make me forget her, make it easier to move on… but standing here with her again, it's as if the years between us never happened. I chose to let her go, but I don’t think I ever let her out of my heart."
~ Lee Heeseung

Nina sat across from Sophia and Siya in their favorite cafe, a cozy corner where they’d spent countless afternoons talking about life, love, and everything in between. As she wrapped her fingers around her cup, she found herself struggling to begin. The recent encounter with Heeseung had unraveled emotions she thought she had buried, and yet, a strange calmness lingered beneath it all.
Sophia, perceptive as always, tilted her head with a small smile. "You're quieter than usual, Nina. What's on your mind?"
Nina glanced between her friends, taking a breath. “I saw him again. Lee Heeseung.”
Siya’s eyes widened, her hand freezing mid-sip. “Wait, Heeseung? I thought he was… out of the picture?”
Nina nodded slowly, the emotions starting to bubble up again. “I thought so too. But he reached out for therapy, and I didn’t know it was him until he walked in. He’s… different. Yet, in some ways, he’s the same. And He is a single father now, his son Rowoon—” She paused, her voice softening. “He’s so precious. There’s something about him… He feels so familiar, like he belongs.”
Sophia leaned forward, placing a hand on Nina’s. “How are you feeling? I know this can’t be easy, facing him after everything.”
Nina looked down, her thoughts a tangle of hope and caution. “I thought seeing him again would hurt, that all the memories would come flooding back. But it wasn’t like that. It felt… unfinished, like there are things I still don’t understand.”
Siya offered a gentle smile. “Maybe he feels the same. Seven years is a long time to keep things buried, Nina. Maybe it’s time to find out what’s really there between you two.”
Nina’s gaze softened, a part of her wondering if that was even possible. She had moved on—or at least tried to. But as she sat there with her closest friends, she couldn’t shake the feeling that her story with Heeseung might not be as over as she had believed.
As the gentle hum of the café surrounded them, Nina’s gaze drifted to the street outside, watching the quiet world beyond the glass. Sophia and Siya waited patiently, sensing the weight of her thoughts. After a moment, Nina finally spoke, her voice softer than before.
“It’s strange,” she began. “Seeing Heeseung after all these years… it didn’t feel like I was meeting a stranger. It felt like we just… picked up where we left off, as if all that time was just a long pause.”
Nina looked down, her fingers tracing the rim of her coffee cup. “But I don’t know if any of this is even fair… Heeseung is a single father now. Seven years is such a long time, and maybe he’s moved on. He has a son, Sophia,” she murmured, a hint of sadness in her voice. “He started a family, loved someone else, maybe even married her. And I don’t know who she is, or… where she is now.”
