"I’ve loved you through every storm, and I’ll keep loving you through this one too. But the thought of losing you... it terrifies me more than anything. You’re not just my love—you’re my reason to breathe."
~ Kim Nina

Third person's POV
Nina finished her shift later than expected, and a wave of guilt rushed through her. She had promised to pick Rowoon up from school on time, but now it was nearly half an hour past dismissal. Hurriedly grabbing her bag, she rushed to her car and drove toward the school.
Traffic was unusually heavy, and Nina was forced to park her car across the road from the school. As she stood at the crosswalk, waiting for the traffic light to turn red, her eyes scanned the crowd of children.
On the other side of the road, Rowoon’s excited voice broke through the noise. “Mamma! Mamma! Come fast!” he yelled, waving his tiny hands frantically.
Nina’s heart dropped as she saw him darting toward the busy road. Panic surged through her as she shouted, “Stay where you are, Woonie! Don’t run! Don’t cross the road yet! Don’t!”
Thankfully, Rowoon stopped just short of the zebra crossing. Nina exhaled in relief as the traffic light turned red, but her relief was short-lived.
A speeding motorcycle ignored the signal and roared toward Rowoon.
Time seemed to slow as Nina’s instincts took over. Without a second thought, she sprinted across the road, her heart pounding in her chest. Just as the motorcycle was about to reach him, Nina threw herself in front of it, wrapping Rowoon in her arms and shielding him with her body.
The impact sent them tumbling to the ground. Nina’s arms scraped against the rough asphalt, her skin peeling and bleeding. Pain radiated through her body, but she clutched Rowoon tightly, refusing to let him go.
When the danger passed, Nina hurriedly checked Rowoon for injuries. Finding none, she collapsed to her knees and hugged him tightly, peppering his face with relieved kisses. “You’re okay, sweetheart. You’re okay,” she whispered, tears streaming down her face.
The flashback faded as Nina drove, her hands gripping the steering wheel tightly. Her arms still stung from the wounds, but her thoughts were focused elsewhere. She glanced at Rowoon through the rearview mirror, relieved to see him sound asleep in the backseat.
However, her relief didn’t last long. Nina’s eyes flickered to the mirror again, this time noticing a black car trailing behind her. Its presence felt off—it had been following her for quite some time now.
Nina’s suspicion grew, and she sped up slightly to pull alongside Heeseung’s car. Rolling down her window, she called out, “Someone’s following us.”
Heeseung’s face darkened as he glanced at the car in question. “Speed up,” he instructed. “I’ll stay behind you.”
Nina nodded, accelerating to take the lead. But Heeseung’s unease grew as he caught a glimpse of the driver in his rearview mirror. His breath hitched. It was a sasaeng—a dangerous obsessive fan he had sued years ago for stalking and defamation.
A chill ran down his spine as he realized the sasaeng must have found out about Nina and Rowoon. And now, they were trying to harm them.
The black car suddenly swerved, speeding up to get closer to Nina’s vehicle. Heeseung’s jaw tightened. “Not on my watch,” he muttered.
