(Can you hear the ominous bells.)
-Hel- oh, they're sleeping. - Ena quickly lowered her tone. - Come on, let's go to our room. I don't want to wake them up.
Ena tiptoed to the tv and closed the tv off.
-Oh, this movie. Never got the hype, though the songs are nice.
She tucked the sleeping girls and told Mizuki to clean the bowl with the popcorns. Yet again, she showered and went to the room where all of the girls were usually sleeping, however, not this time.
- I guess we'll have to sleep on the same bed...- Ena blushed so much she had to hide her face under a pillow.
- I don't really mind!! Hey, Ena~ just don't kick me under the sheets~
- HEY, MIZUKI, I DONT DO THIS.
After a few minutes, after brushing her teeth, Ena quickly fell asleep. But the pink-haired figure couldn't even blink. She didn't want to get close with her. But it was inevitable. If they got close, Mizuki would have to tell her the dreadful truth. Her eyes widened and she stared at the ceiling. The person next to her seemed unrecognisable. She never managed to connect with somebody so fast. It's been just a few weeks (author note - I decided to change the time for better character development and pacing of the story) and Mizuki has never connected with somebody so much.
-I'm such an awful person, aren't I...-Mizuki thought. - Aha...she'll leave me. Just like...just like...they all did...
Mizuki was born in the Edo period and their family was doing well financially. They had one older sister. Mizuki wasn't always a "she" though they always felt like a girl. From her youngest days she was always fascinated by the beautiful female kimonos and always wanted to wear them. Despite of the encouragement by her sister, the pink-haired girl was always hesitant. But god made them go through a different path. Later, they became a knight in order to protect the weak. She has always had an incredible sense of justice. Mizuki had the propensity to be cheerful, even when they felt drained to the last bit too. They also loved bows and would collect them.
With her participation in one of the small knight battalions, she became close friends with the rest of the people. Though she appeared as a boy in front of them, inside she felt like a girl. And it hurt. It hurt having to fake your own self for your image. When she came home, she would lie down on her sister's lap and cry. Sometimes for hours. She just wanted to be accepted by everyone else, the way she is and to be afraid of who she is. They formed a particularly close friendship with one of the knights. On one hot summer day, Mizuki and the once friendly figure were left alone together to train. On their way back home, they decided to confide in them. And he was seemingly understanding. He comforted them saying that it unfortunately happens this way. That god doesn't ask us for our wishes. Mizuki was surprised, but happy. Little did they know what was yet to come the next day. All of them. All of the knights in their battalion were staring at them. They asked what was wrong. A few people laughed. A few people grinned. A few people glanced away from them. But only a few people looked at the girl with sympathy. In the middle their so-called friend was standing in the middle hesitantly looking away from Mizuki. They knew. They all knew. Mizuki's eyes widened and teared up. Their guts tied up into a notch and they gulped. Her once friend was looking from their usual figure to a former shadow, from the shadow and to the figure again. But Mizuki wasn't sure who this person was anymore. The pink-haired knight ran away from the place. And she didn't appear for a long while. Yuuki's, the name of their sister, kimono was soaked by tears and sweat. She has never seen her sister this way.
Mizuki cried on Ena's bed. She reluctantly stood up but collapsed and caused Ena to wake up. Mizuki was crying and her small sobs turned into weeps.
-Mizuki...? - Ena looked at the other girl who met her sorrowful gaze.
-Ena...- the pink-haired girl trembled with fear.
Ena went to the girl and hugged her tightly. She gently caressed their face and kiss them on the cheek.
-What's wrong?
-I...it's nothing, really...you shouldn't be seeing me this way...
-Take your time. Tell me when you think you're ready.
Mizuki's eyes were sparkling yet again and their ugly sobs stopped. Ena held her by the hand and yet again, they both lied down on the bed, while both of them were hugging each other with almost suffocating warmth. She didn't know how much she could trust Ena. But she knew that her secret will be inevitably revealed someday.(Author's note...again. Sorry for this, it's very rushed and there are some pacing and writing problems. I'm very sorry for this. I don't feel well and I started this and I wanted to finish it. Thank you for understanding)
