To appreciate one's love.

   Kanade entered the flat, shaking from the cold. It was about 32 degrees Fahrenheit, the air was blowing. The sun was hidden by the clouds, and it felt even colder. But she was happy that she was in her warm home now. It was a nice Friday afternoon and Kanade just got back from university.
-Hello! Ah, Mafuyu, is it only you here?  Where is Ena? - Kanade greeted Mafuyu with a warm smile.
-Ah, she went to propose to Ena for Valentine's Day. Who is your Valentine, Kanade?
  Kanade's whole face blushed and lost the track of her words.
-I-it's Miss Mochizuki...what about yours?
-Shizuku...- Mafuyu's face blushed too and both of them stared at each other. - I'm planning to take her to that animal centre with a lot of bunnies where we can take care of them. She has mentioned she enjoys the company of bunnies. - Mafuyu smiled by the image of her face. The mauve-haired girl used to hide her true self, around the mentioned girl but with time she started being herself. Every single compliment she gave to the girl, even without realising, was real and she meant truly from the heart. She was happy to see herself grow so much. - Then I suggested we go to a ramen restaurant, since she enjoys ramen. And unfortunately, I can't cook. I'll be staying at her place. Hinomori-san (referring to Shiho, btw) will be having a concert with a band, as a back-up bassist. Also, no need to be so formal with Honami. You're dating, right?
-Ok...I'll probably stay at honami's house too. We will cook together, take shibao on a walk, watch a movie too, probably. We haven't fully planned it...- Kanade smiled. Then, she came up with an idea. - When are you going out? I'll be leaving at around, hmm...6:00 pm. It's 3:00 pm now.
-I told Shizuku that I'll be there at 5:00 pm so she comes earlier, since I know she'll be late.
-I'd like to show you something. Mo- Honami helped me cook a ramen once and it turned out fantastic. I'd like to teach you too. There'll be enough for Ena and Mizuki. I'll text them after it's ready.
   Mafuyu nodded and they went to the kitchen. All of the products they needed were in the fridge, so they immediately began cooking. Kanade would gently show her how to mix different things. The writer was making the broth, while the composer was preparing the meat. It took them less than a hour and a half. They enjoyed themselves a lot. Mafuyu's heart skipped a beat when she tried it. It was...delicious. She felt the same feelings when she saw her portrait, made by Ena. She felt the same feelings when Mizuki was doing her hair. She felt the same feelings when Shizuki smiled to her and accepted her proposal. It was around 4:30 pm, which was the usual time when the group was eating for lunch due to university and their, well, not so healthy lifestyle. Mafuyu texted Shizuku that she wants to cook with her at the idol's place. It was still hard for her to use phones and she accidentally sent Mafuyu a picture of herself. The mauve-haired girl smiled warmly. She often watched More More Jump's livestreams to see Shizuku. Their music made her very happy. The two girls finished eating and Mafuyu suddenly tightly hugged Kanade, almost suffocating her. But it was still warm.
-Kanade...you know...it's Valentine's Day today. The day of love.
-Mhm! - Kanade nodded with a confused, yet hearty smile.
-This includes love between friends too and well, Kanade, you're one of my bestest of friends and favourite people. I love you dearly. Please stay by my side, making music, being my friend...helping me heal.
   -I love you too, Mafuyu. I'll stay by your side. And you'll stay by mine. - She smiled and hugged Mafuyu back. After a few minutes, Mafuyu stood up and started looking in her bag for something. She was holding, in her hands, a white aroma-candle, a star-shaped stickers and a small plush of a bunny.
-Here. My gifts of gratitude for you.
  Kanade took the gifts and happy, hot tears came out of her eyes. She was so happy to see how much Mafuyu has grown since the past years. She thanked the mauve-haired girl and took her gifts in their bedroom. Thinking of Mafuyu's growth, made her think of her own development too. The composer thought a lot more about herself now too, loved herself more and didn't overwork herself anymore and took things slowly. All thanks to the kindness of the people around her.
    The girls left the flat and started waiting for their busses to come at the stop. The wind was mildly blowing. Kanade was freezing, so Mafuyu held her hand to warm her up. They chatted, until Mafuyu's bus arrived and she had to leave.  This exchange of warmth, and love made Kanade smile. She loved her friends. No matter if her love is platonic, romantic or mild, the white-haired girl always appreciated the love of the people around her. Friends and loved ones make her feel loved and appreciated. They make her enjoy herself more, and importantly, to love herself and the world around her a lot more. And to exchange this warmth back, felt truly incredible for her. Because this is what your friends are for, after all.
