The evening was warm, the clinking of glasses and hum of conversation filling the air as Lisa sat sandwiched between Jisoo and Jeongyeon at the welcome dinner.
She still wasn't entirely sure how to feel about being thrust into such a high-ranking post after all she'd been through.
As Chief Superintendent, she was now surrounded by her new colleagues, including the head of their department, Jennie Kim, who was seated across from her.
Jeongyeon and Jisoo's barrage of questions made Lisa feel like she was on a late-night talk show. Jisoo leaned in, eyes wide with curiosity.
"So, Limario, tell us about the Red Room,"
Jisoo said, dragging out the words like she was sharing a spooky campfire story.
Jeongyeon nodded in agreement.
Lisa blinked.
"Limario?"
"That's my nickname for you."
Jisoo said seriously.
"Ignore her she is tipsy, so red room?"
"Uh, It was like... prison"
She muttered, scratching the back of her neck.
"I accepted my fate, though, and look at me now. I'm proud of what I've become despite their Intention of making me a criminal."
"You're a fighter, Lisa,"
Jeongyeon said, offering a fist bump.
"Thanks"
Lisa replied.
Bambam and Taehyung, both Superintendents, were across the table, listening intently. Taehyung, his curiosity getting the better of him, finally spoke up.
"But... like, what was it really like? It sounds intense."
"Think of it as jail,"
Lisa said, her voice even, though the memories weren't entirely pleasant.
"But with better decor."
Taehyung raised an eyebrow.
"With better decor?"
Lisa paused, nodding thoughtfully.
"Yeah, I mean... They give you the best education and training so that you do crime perfectly."
Jisoo snorted,
"That's... Disgustingly impressive."
Yuna, sitting quietly for most of the night, finally spoke up.
"I think it's amazing that you went through all that and still came out so strong."
Lisa smiled, and that simple act made Yuna blush furiously.
Jisoo, ever the instigator, immediately jumped on the opportunity.
"Oh, Lisa, you're making Yuna blush! Watch out-you've got another admirer."
Lisa blinked, genuinely confused.
"Wait, what? What do you mean?"
Everyone laughed again. Jisoo slapped the table, unable to hold back her giggles.
"How are you this oblivious? You've probably got a whole fan club by now, and you don't even know it!"
Lisa looked around, bewildered.
"I do?"
Jeongyeon patted her back.
Before she could say anything else, Jennie, the normally strict and no-nonsense Deputy Assistant Commissioner, stood up, raising her glass.
