The sheets were tangled around our legs, a testament to the heated tangle of emotions we had been caught in.

My heart was still racing, my breath coming in ragged gasps. I was confused, bewildered, and a little bit… aroused.

Mark’s scent, a mix of musk and woodsy cologne, still clung to me, a lingering reminder of the intensity of his kiss, his touch.

As I looked at him, his eyes filled with a mixture of guilt and desire, I couldn't help but feel a strange pull towards him.  It was confusing, a whirlwind of emotions that I couldn’t quite grasp..

Gosh I was supposed to hate him!

Suddenly, a throat cleared, the sound cutting through the silence that had descended upon the room.  We both looked up, startled, to see Adam standing in the doorway, his face a mask of amusement.

oh shit

“What’s that?” he asked, his smile a mischievous curve across his lips.

Mark immediately pulled back, his face flushing a bright crimson. He glared at Adam, a vein pulsing in his forehead, before leaping off the bed and scrambling to his feet.

I sat up, my cheeks burning with a blush that refused to fade.  Adam’s teasing grin only amplified my discomfort.

“What are you doing here?” Mark asked, his voice sharp with annoyance.

“I got bored downstairs,” Adam replied, his voice laced with a playful lilt. “I thought I’d come up and see what you two lovebirds were up to.”

lovebirds?

Mark shot Adam a warning glance, his eyes narrowed.  “We were just… talking,” he said, his voice tight.

“Oh, really?” Adam raised an eyebrow, his smile widening. “You know, I’ve never seen you two talk like that before.  Maybe you should try it out sometime.”

Adam’s relentless teasing was starting to get to me.  I felt a wave of annoyance rising within me, but I couldn’t help but laugh at his audacity.

“Okay, okay, you win,” I said, shaking my head.  “We weren’t doing anything, just… talking.”

“Talking about what?  Your future wedding plans?” Adam asked, his voice laced with a playful sarcasm as he chuckles. “Or maybe you were just planning how to take over the world?”

“Just… talking,” I repeated, my voice a low murmur.

Suddenly, Adam’s expression shifted, a serious tone replacing his usual teasing.  He reached into his pocket and pulled out my phone, his gaze hardening.

what the?

“Your brother has been trying to reach you all night,” he said, his voice serious.

He tossed my phone onto the bed, the screen flashing with a notification of 26 missed calls and 100 unread messages.

shit.

I groaned, my heart sinking.  Tristian, my twin, was a worrier.  He always had a tendency to panic if he couldn’t reach me, especially at night.  I could only imagine the barrage of texts and calls he had left me.

I facepalmed, my head pounding with a mixture of exhaustion and guilt.

“Tristian’s gonna kill me,” I muttered, pulling the phone closer.

Adam chuckled, his amusement echoing through the room.

“You know, if you hadn’t been busy… you know, with Mark, he wouldn’t have been so worried,” he said, his voice laced with a playful jab.
