SEB POV:
The morning light crept slowly into the room, streaking through the curtains in soft golden lines. It painted warm patterns on the floor and the crumpled sheets that barely covered me and Mark.
The sex still lingered in the cool air from last night carrying the scent of early dawn—fresh, crisp, and unbothered. Outside, the world was waking up.
The wind rustled against the trees, birds chirped somewhere in the distance, and the occasional soft hum of passing vehicles could be heard, though they were far from the house.
The bed was a mess. Sheets tangled, pillows askew, and the blanket was the only thing shielding us from the morning chill. My body felt heavy, sore even, and my head was still fogged with sleep when the sharp buzzing of my phone broke the peace. I groaned, turning over slightly, but the noise persisted.
Yawning, I slowly pushed myself up, rubbing the sleep from my eyes as I reached out blindly toward the nightstand. My fingers fumbled before finally gripping my phone, and as I unlocked the screen, the first notification I saw was from Tristian.
Tristian: "Get home. It’s already morning. Where the hell did you even go?."
I sighed. Of course, my brother would start the day by nagging me. I lazily typed a reply.
Me: "Good morning."
I paused before adding another text.
Me: "I’ll be home in an hour."
Closing my phone, I placed it back on the nightstand and exhaled deeply. When I turned my head, I saw Mark stirring beside me, his arms stretching lazily as he let out a soft yawn. His hair was a mess, strands sticking up in every direction, and his bare shoulders peeked from under the blanket.
His sleepy eyes found mine, and he grinned. "Morning, gorgeous."
I rolled my eyes but couldn’t stop a small smile from tugging at my lips. "Morning."
Just as I was about to push myself off the bed, I felt a dull ache shoot up my lower back. My brows furrowed as I winced, turning my glare toward Mark, who only sweatdropped in response.
I scowled. "My back hurts."
He had the audacity to smirk. "Can’t blame me for that, babe."
I groaned in frustration, running a hand through my hair. "It’s too early for this."
"Exactly," Mark said, stretching his arms again before dropping them around my waist and pulling me against his chest. "Which is why we should stay in bed a little longer."
I sighed, already knowing where this was going. "Mark, I need to go home. Tristian is already waiting for me."
"Let him wait," he murmured, pressing a lazy kiss against my neck.
I stiffened. "It’s early in the morning—"
"So?" He trailed kisses along my jawline, his arms tightening around me.
