MEL POV;
The mall buzzed with activity, shoppers bustling through the aisles, and the faint hum of pop music playing over the speakers.I dragged my two chaotic friends, George and Kio, into the clothing section of the store,I have no choice but to drag their lazy butts in here since my brothers are busy.
“Come on, you guys! I need new clothes, and you two are coming with me, y'know I trynna impress Tiana,” I announced, tightening my grip on their sleeves.
“Why do we have to suffer?” George whined, running a hand through his curly brown hair. He was tall, lean, and looked like a model with just his effortlessly casual style: a white hoodie, jeans, and sneakers.
“Yeah, Mel,” Kio chimed in, yawning dramatically. His shaggy black hair and slightly tanned skin made his half-Japanese heritage obvious. He was wearing a black T-shirt with a naruto (anime) print and sweatpants, his signature lazy look. “We’re not your personal shopping assistants. Can’t you just do this on your own?”
“You both owe me from last week!” I retorted, narrowing my eyes. “Remember when I covered your lunch because you ‘accidentally’ forgot your wallets?”
They exchanged guilty looks before sighing in unison. “Fine,” they grumbled.
“Thought so,” I said smugly, leading the way to the clothes section.
The store was a maze of colors and styles, mannequins frozen in trendy poses. I darted toward the polo shirt area, my eyes catching on rows of neatly folded shirts in every shade imaginable. George and Kio lingered behind before splitting off to do their own thing.
“Call us when you’re done,” George called over his shoulder, already heading toward who knows where, anyways, while Kio, in contrast, ambled off lazily, mumbling something about finding a place to nap.
"Seriously,nap in here? it's a mall"I utter to myself.
Now alone, I stared at the polo shirts, overwhelmed by the choices. Should I go for something bold, like red, or stick with neutral colors? Ugh, decisions. I bit my lip, running my fingers over the fabric of a navy blue one, but I couldn’t decide.
“Ugh, why is this so hard?” I muttered under my breath.
That’s when I noticed him—not far from where I stood.
The boy was tall, probably around my height, with sharp yet soft features. His fluffy brown hair fell slightly over his forehead, and he had pale skin that made his calm expression stand out even more. He wore a simple white shirt, slim-fit jeans, and sneakers, the kind of effortlessly put-together look that screamed minimalism.
Without thinking, I walked over to him.
“Hey,” I said, my voice louder than I intended.
The boy flinched, his dark brown eyes widening as he turned to face me. A faint blush crept up his cheeks, and he looked at me like a deer caught in headlights.
“Uh… are you buying one of these too?” I asked, motioning toward the polo shirts.
He blinked, then nodded, his voice soft and calm. “Y-Yeah. I was just… looking.”
For some reason, his shyness made me grin. “Same here. They all look good, and I can’t decide. Any suggestions?”
His eyes darted to the shirts, and he hesitated before speaking. “Maybe… navy blue? It’s a versatile color.”
