"What are you doing on the laptop?" I asked, confused.
She smiled softly. "After I'm gone, only my memories will remain. So, I’m gathering those memories for you now. This... this AI character will be my gift to you. I’ve designed her to be just like me."
"Sona..."
"Rohan, I never want you to actually need this. You can delete her whenever you’re ready and move on with your life. But if you ever feel alone, and need someone to talk to, she’ll be there. She’ll listen, she’ll respond, just like I do. But remember, she won’t be me. I don't want you to live in a virtual world, Rohan. I want you to live in the real one. I want you to be happy."
Her voice trembled a little, but she tried to stay strong for me.
"Please, don’t cry for me, Rohan. There will be moments when you’ll miss me, but don't let that stop you from living. Just like you're living now, I want you to keep going. And this AI... it'll remind you of that. It'll remind you to live. To keep going, just as you're supposed to."
Her words hit me hard. I could see the love and care behind every single thought she had put into this. But at that moment, all I could feel was the ache of losing her.
"I'm so scared, Sona... so scared," I whispered, my voice trembling.
"Rohan..." she spoke softly, her voice barely audible.
"Every time I’ve been away from you, I always had the hope that one day, I'd see you again," she said, gently kissing my forehead.
I closed my eyes, trying to hold on to the warmth of her touch, not wanting to let go of that moment.
"You’ll see me again, won’t you?...
yea you will in the world after this one right?" I asked, my voice faltering.
She smiled weakly, her eyes full of love and sadness. "So, you're not going to stop following me, huh?" she teased gently.
"Never... not now, not ever," I said, my voice steady despite the pain.
"I had you in this lifetime, Rohan. Believe me, that's enough for me. I won't crave any love in any other lifetime now if any left..," Sona whispered, her voice laced with a mix of longing and resignation.
I looked at her, my eyes softening, but a hint of sadness lingered.
"Sona… don’t say that."
She smiled faintly, tears threatening to fall. "It’s true. Even though it didn't last forever, we didn't even cross our 40's but, having you here, right now, is more than I could ever ask for."
"Dying in your arms was my last wish... Thank you, Rohan, for loving me,"
Sona whispered, her voice barely audible as she rested her head against my chest.
"Thank you… for everything."
I held her tighter, my heart is breaking with every word.
"Sona, no... please don't say goodbye," my voice trembled, tears welling in my eyes.
She smiled weakly, not able to breathe properly.
"I can go now, knowing I was loved by you... that's all I ever needed."
Seeing her resting in my arms with eyes closed I told her...
Once you reach heaven Sona You must tell God to keep you from being reborn until I come there. I will fulfill all my responsibilities here Sona, but I need you to wait for me up there.
