"Will you marry me, Sona? You are my friend, my lover, my passion, my achievements, my breath. Now be my wife, Sona. Be my family. Wear the bridal red that you've always wanted..."

"Don't do this, Rohan. I'm dying; I don’t even know how long I have left. Please, Rohan, don't do this. I’m not brave enough to say you should love someone else or make someone else yours, but I’m  strong enough to face this reality, I don't have much time."

"Shhh, Sona. You will be my wife."

"Rohan, look at me. Instead of blood, only medicines flows in my veins. What will I wear on my head when I have no hair left—what adornment can I use when I don’t even have hair left? How will I take seven vows when I don’t have the strength to walk? Where will you put the mangalsutra when I can’t wear it? My hands bear only marks of illness."

"Please, let me live the little time I have left like this. Just let me be; don’t do this."

"Yes, I will put the mangalsutra on you in that same place that will hide your pain."

"You will wear these bangles on the same hands that I will always hold."

"People will see you with me as we take our vows, with carrying you in my arms."

"I will marry you for every single lifetime. I don’t know how many days we have left, but for however long I do, I want you to call me as your husband, forever."

"Girls take vidai (farewell) from their father’s house; but I will take  vidai from my husband's house. Rohan, I must have done something very good in my life to deserve you."

"Please, Sona, please."

"Yes, I will marry you." Sona said

We got married. Yes, Rohan and Sona are now husband and wife.

Priya gave birth to a beautiful baby boy.

"Priya, you can still pursue your career and everything here. You don't have to go far from us."

"Let me go, Rohan. If you are any near to me, I'll never be able to move on. Please, let me go. I need to start a new life, I have to forget everything."

"I thought the same for these 9 months, carrying him inside me," Priya said, tears filling her eyes. "A mother’s love for her child is something entirely different... but no, this baby is yours and Sona's."

"I thought I could manage everything staying here, but I realized I couldn’t. Don’t worry, though, I’m not giving up on my career. I’ve finished everything I needed to here, and I’m ready to be transferred."

Priya looked at sona gently, "Take care of yourself, Sona. And I’m sorry for everything I put you through. Truly, I am." Priya’s voice cracked as she sobbed.

Sona held her hand, "It’s okay, Priya. There was no mistake in loving. Love is never wrong—it’s just that sometimes we become a little selfish. Live your life well, Priya. Live without any regrets."

Priya nodded through her tears, "Hmm... I will."

"You both... I've given you your son, now let me go. Take care of this child, Rohan, take great care. I carried him for nine months, but Sona is the one who deserves to be called his mother.

Please, Rohan, never tell him about me.

This is your and Sona's child.

Goodbye."

She gave Sona that one thing that would make her feel alive—someone who would call her "Mom." A complete family.

Sona, this is what you always wanted—a small family, I said.
