It was about ten thirty pm by the time Mia managed to at least calm Anne down from the excitement of Easter, gently putting her down on the bed before going back to the bathroom. Her face soon scrunched up as she spotted the photo of Mia and her father at her first ever soccer game when she was twelve. “I can't believe dads been missing everything,” Mia muttered to herself, splashing water on her face before soon thinking about the unfortunate past.
Her heart ached with sadness as she tried her best to forgive but instead chose to ignore the feeling all together as Mia splashed more water onto her face. From the close room her sibling started to turn over and a faint call was heard calling to the oldest before she could feel an often unnerving aura. Thinking it was just Anne not able to sleep she went back to their room but when Mia slowly opened the door she spotted a tall dark figure watching over her sleeping sibling. “What the fuck” Mia cursed, quickly giving away that she was there as the figure turned, his neck snapping with a crack as it suddenly appeared before the oldest and began to stare with it's deep yellow eyes. He smiled as she backed away, confused on who this person even was and why they were trespassing but for some reason being too afraid to even confront. She picked up a nearby baseball bat and was ready to take all of her strength to throw it if the figure got anywhere closer.
“A believer that's much too old to be believing in silly fairy tales, though the dark ages were wonderful, it's been so long since someone like you has been truly afraid.” Her words began to stutter and her body rejected the option to even move but seeing her sister in trouble gave her the confidence to try and run for it before quickly being blocked by a horse made of dark impure sand. This couldn't be real. Another horse grabbed her by her arm as she struggled to move. She watched the figure go closer to her sister.
Mia looked down as another long string of sand grabbed onto her foot, keeping her from interfering.“GET YOUR CLAWS OFF OF MY SISTER, NOW” The figure manically laughed as he turned back to the girl, now she could get a better look at his scaly pale skin and black spiky hair reflecting in the moonlight. She screamed in pain as the sand quickly tightened its grip hurting Mia.
She started to lose hope in ever getting free or even waking her sibling in this predicament but still persisted nonetheless. *BOOM* a swarm of smoke made from different colors came through the window as a hole opened up in front of her. Confusion struck the oldest child as all Mia could hear was zipping sounds and Russian battle cries in the dark, as for the hole as far as she could see nothing had come out of it first before the commotion continued to stir up as the dark figure grunted in frustration before running straight for its horse. That didn't matter for much longer as Mia saw Anne slowly start to wake up. A boomerang flew across the room, dispersing the horse that had a strong hold on Mia as she took the gifted opportunity to run to her sibling. Anne asked half asleep what was going on and Mia tightly hugged her sister, relieved that the absolute creep that snuck in was far, far gone. At least for now.
And as the oldest looked back at Anne and wiped her tears with her sweater it appeared both of them were sprinkled with golden dust. Though having so many questions at that moment it could probably wait, she felt so tired. It was plenty enough action for her for one night. And with that, her eyes slowly started to close as she traveled far far off into dreamland.
