With a deep breath, I nod towards Emilee who's hand was on the door handle. Toward in front of me were two double doors, that I was told was the entrance to the library, the royal library. I whipped my sweaty hands on my pants, this was so nerve-racking. I like my pink lips as the door opens, I walk though as Emilee bowed. My eyes widened as they scanned around. Books everywhere, bookshelves plastered the walls leaving no rooms for painting or sconces.

You couldn't tell what color the walls were, it was impressive. Stepping forward I noticed Cassius sitting in a chair next to the small fireplace. His eyes scanned the words the books held. I took another step forward however I froze in place when his black framed red eye snapped to my own. I gulp the saliva that builds in my mouth a little. My back straightened and I held my head up high, even though my eyes drifted to the polished wooden floors.

"Skyler, thank you for joining me." He gave me a tiny smile and adjusted his glasses up his nose. He shut his book gently and put it on the small end table.

"Well, I can't turn down the crown prince's invitation." I gestured my hands towards him before quickly putting them back down to my sides. A few seconds passed and I had to fight myself not to squirm under his calculated eyes. "It's very beautiful here!" I was desperate to break this odd tension between us.

"Yes it is, I was encouraged since birth to take care of the royal library. I was being groomed to absorb knowledge unlike others." His eyes tore away from my face to look at his own creation, my eyes drift up to see his chest puffed up slightly and his eyes shiny.

"Such a big responsibility, for someone so young."

"Me and my brothers were all assigned rooms to care for. Our father thought it would teach us responsibility, I also think he was studying us. Whose room will rise and whose will fall." His eyes came back to me. "Please sit." He gestures to the chair in front of him.

"Why would he do that?" I take the seat interested in his words.

"To see which of his sons will be the king. We were born at the same time, our ages are the same. My father was going to give it to Atticus by default, since he is older. However he noticed Darius and I also excelled in our studies." He took a sip from a mug that had steam coming off the liquid inside.

"If Atticus, was born by himself and was a few years older than Darius and I, he no doubt would have the crown to himself. However since we are triplets and all show great strength in different categories, the best decision was to make us all king."

"I'm happy, you all will be kings." Cassius chuckles a little and rests his head on his hand.

"So we don't try to kill each other for the crown?" His black eyebrows raised. My blue eyes widen at his and his little smirk.

"What no! I think you guys just compliment each other, will all of you as kings, surely the kingdom will prosper." I spit out quickly, I look around to see Emilee standing by the entrance with her head down. I leaned forward in my chair and whispered. "Are you going to try and kill them?" He immediately erupted in laughter.

"God no! There are my brothers, my foolish brothers." He pauses looking at the giant chandelier above. "I would be quite sad if they died, they make me laugh."

Is that the only reason he hasn't tried to take the crown for himself? Because they make him laugh? Oh, I better start learning some jokes, and soon.

"Is there a certain book you would like to read? If we don't have it here I'll send out a servant to fetch it for you." He flicked his hand dismissively towards the shelves.

"Oh um? Perhaps something about herbs?" Cassius' eyes came together. "I would really enjoy learning how to make my own tea!" I say trying to justify my answer, when it didn't really need to be. He nodded and got up from his chair, I moved to rise to, however he stopped me with a hand held up.

"I'll go get it, I know all the twists and turns of the library." My eyebrows raised as he walked off. What twists and turns? My eyes scanned the grand room, it wasn't that back. I look back to see Cassius walk back to a corner, my eyes widen as I see an entrance appear in front of him.

He disappeared for quite some time, to the point of worryingly long. I stayed in my chair like a loyal dog waiting for its master. My thumb tapped against my inner thigh. He wouldn't just leave me here waiting, would he? He doesn't like me much, however he invited me here. My ears perked up once I heard shoes clicking on the floorboards getting louder. I sat up straight and looked towards the entrance of the hallway.

Cassius' long legs are what I saw first, shredded forward holding a green leather back book in his hand. The lettering was a shiny gold with an engraved picture of a flower with roots on it. He stepped forwards and handed me the book.

"Is this what you want?"

"Yes." I say a little too quickly, I look to down and could only read one word. Herbs
