Jenna sat in stunned silence, Sam's words echoing in her mind. "You're already in danger." She glanced at Alex, who looked just as shaken. The reality of the situation was hitting harder now—they weren't just searching for Clara anymore; they were running for their own lives.

"How powerful are they?" Alex finally asked, his voice tense. "This Silver Crescent Society?"

Sam sighed deeply and leaned back in his chair, eyes dark with knowledge he clearly wished he didn't have. "They're embedded deep in this town. Politicians, business owners, even the police—people you'd never suspect. They've been pulling the strings for decades, making sure their secrets stay buried. Anyone who gets too close...well, they disappear."

Jenna's stomach twisted. "Like Clara?"

Sam nodded grimly. "If Clara was digging into their past, she likely found something they didn't want exposed. The Society has eyes everywhere. They're always watching, always waiting for someone to make a wrong move."

Jenna clenched her fists. "Then we need to make the right move. How do we find her? Where do we even start?"

Sam hesitated before speaking, his gaze flicking to the window as if he feared someone might be listening. "There's a place," he said quietly. "An old building on the outskirts of town, hidden beneath the ruins of the old factory. It's where the Society used to meet in secret, decades ago. I'm not sure if they still use it, but it's the only lead we've got. If Clara found out about it, she might have gone there."

Alex leaned forward, his expression determined. "Then we go there tonight."

"Hold on," Sam warned. "You can't just walk in. If they're still using that place, it'll be heavily guarded or at least monitored. You need a plan. If you're caught, there's no telling what they'll do to you."

Jenna's mind raced. Every instinct screamed at her to be careful, but the thought of Clara trapped somewhere, terrified and alone, fueled her determination. "We'll go," she said firmly. "But we'll be careful."

Sam sighed again, running a hand through his hair. "If you're serious about this, meet me here in two hours. I'll get what we need to break into that place."

Jenna and Alex exchanged a glance. There was no turning back now. Whatever they found beneath the surface of Maplewood, it was sure to change everything.
