It was the day of promenade and picnics for the Ton. Today was the day that each young Miss got to flaunt and make conversation with the man that was courting them. Melody Hastings had no interest in the matter. She was merely there to support her brother....well and to talk to a certain Bridgerton boy. Of course upon their arrival Simon found Daphne and went about his day promenading. Meanwhile Melody, walked over to the Bridgerton tent.

"Good Morning Mrs.Bridgerton" Melody happily greeted

"Good morning dearest! And please call me Violet" she smiled "feel free to take any food you'd like, Eloise is reading, Benedict is playing with his siblings, and Anthony is-"

"Right here mother" he interrupted and grabbed Melody's hand in his and kissed her knuckle, "good morning Ms.Hastings, to what do I owe the honor?"

"My brother is promenading with your sister, so I figured I might as well make conversation with my future in-laws" she chuckled

"Ah well-" he began to speak before we heard Lord Burbrooke announce

"I bring cheerful news Bridgertons!"

And walked towards the tent. The first thing Melody (and pretty much everyone else) noticed was his battered and bruised face. She could not tell what she was cringing harder at: his face or his voice. Daphne and Simon came sprinting over to hear of what Lord Brubrooke was about to say, and Anthony went from calm and delicate to stiff and angry.

"I have taken matters in my own hands and sought a special license for my wedding to Ms.Bridgerton" he stated plainly

"There is to be no wedding!" Daphne exclaimed

"I told you the arrangement is cancelled" Anthony reminded Burbrooke

Melody stood right next to Anthony and maybe even more rigidly than him. She shot a worried glance at Simon, but his eyes were too busy shooting daggers at Lord Burbrooke. Violet began trying to move a potentially scandal ridden conversation to a place with more privacy

"Lord Burebrooke you look in a great deal of pain, shall we continue this conversation in a more private location?"

"I require no further conversation," he quipped "though perhaps I am now speaking to the true head of the Bridgerton house; For if it were you I imagine you would have instructed your sister to take better care than to encourage certain attentions while alone with me on the Dark Walk at Vuaxhall. Of course, mere hearsay of such a scandal could reak havoc on even the most influential of families. What would something like say Lady Whistledown do which such unseemly information?"

Melody's anger was boiling to the brim of her being. Her jaw was clenched and her fists were balled up so tight that her knuckles were white.

"Is that a threat?" Anthony accused

"It is certainly not" he replied

"That is surely what it sounded like to me" Melody piped up
