The Duke and Duchess of Evergreen arranged to sit down with their close friends, Viscount and Viscountess Bridgerton to strike a deal. A deal that would create benefit for both parties.

Duke and Duchess evergreen knocked on the door of the Bridgerton House, along with their first born (and only) daughter Rosaline. When the maids answered the door they immediately ushered a then 6 year old Rosaline to play with the Bridgerton's 7 year old son, Anthony Bridgerton and then showed the Duke and Duchess to theta room where the Viscount and Viscountess were awaiting them. As they walked through the door they bowed and curtsied.

"Your graces, it is good to see you both again" Viscount Bridgerton smiled and shook Duke Evergreen's hand

Duke Evergreen accepted his hand shake with a sad smile

"I wish I was able to see you on better terms, my friend"

Viscount Bridgerton gave him a confused look

"Whatever do you mean?"

"Allow us to sit, then we shall discuss" the Duchess suggested

When they all sat down the Evergreen's looked to each other, as to see who shall break the news to the Bridgerton's. Eventually the Duke took in a breath and decided that it shall be him.

"Edmund, Violet, I am sure you are wondering the purpose of this rather formal meeting...well...you see...I have recently found out that I am Ill...and there is nothing that the doctors can do-"

"Oh your grace I am so sorry-" Violet began

"While I appreciate the sentiment...I am not here for your pity...I am here to do my duty as the man of the house. I am here to strike a deal"

The Viscount and Viscountess looked at each other in confusion

"What kind of a deal?" Edmund asked

"An arranged marriage between our eldests" Duchess Evergreen said

Violet and Edmund's eyes immediately widened

"Evergreen, you and I are very close, but I am not sure I could do that to Anthony...or Rosaline...they are merely children"

"Trust me Viscount Bridgerton, this is not ideal for me either. However, I have a duty as Rosaline's father to make sure she ends up with a respectable and titled gentleman. Knowing how and who your boy is being raised by...I have no doubt that he will turn out be an astounding gentleman."

"Evergreen-"

"She does not come without dowry, I shall offer you a large sum that your boy will inherit the moment he marries my daughter, he will also gain her land, and the title of Duke of Evergreen."

"We worry not of titles or land...we worry about our children and their future. Should we agree...we shall refuse her dowry and grant her the land and title of Duchess...However, I would like our boy to remain Viscount Bridgerton."

The Evergreen's looked between each other, speaking only with their eyes, before they made their decision
