Amara and Nicholas have always shared a turbulent yet passionate relationship, filled with fiery arguments and undeniable chemistry. Their complicated history is no secret to the media.
Almost a year after their last explosive break up, Amara, now...
It has been several weeks since Amara started working on the show, and her passion for her work has been reignited. She has grown fond of the crew and cast members, and her interactions with them have been enjoyable.
There is one cast member, however, that she has had limited interactions with. Her role in the show is minimal, leading to limited conversations beyond their scenes as Lyle and Jamie, his girlfriend. Today, however, something feels different. They were both eating lunch at the same time and it is the first time they have been alone in a long time. She couldn't help feel a tinge of anticipation & excitement.
" So, here we are again," Nicholas said, breaking the awkward silence. " Yup, same old set, different show," Amara replied, trying to keep the tone light.
Nicholas let out a short chuckle. "Yeah, different show, same old us." A pause fell between them. "Guess we've officially reached the "working together" again phase. Even though I was just a background character on Victorious so technically, this is our first time working together," he joked.
Amara couldn't help but smile at his playful jab. "Yeah, working together after what happened probably wasn't something either of us expected, huh?"
"Well, life is full of surprises," Nicholas retorted. "And I have to admit, I'm curious about this new project of yours with the soundtrack ."
"You mean curious enough to actually ask me about it instead of stalking my social media?" she responded, an eyebrow raised, referring to the time she caught him stalking her instagram. Nicholas feigned offense, "Hey, I have a healthy interest in someone's life. It's called research."
Amara shook her head, a hint of amusement dancing in her eyes. "Right, because lurking on someone's social media is definitely a reasonable form of 'research." Nicholas shrugged, his gaze lingering on her face. "What can I say? I'm a curious guy. I like to stay informed."
Amara chuckled. "Curiosity killed the cat, you know," she joked. Nicholas' gaze lingered on her for another moment before he spoke again. "Yeah, but satisfaction brought it back," he replied, his voice dropping an octave lower.
Amara felt a flicker of something familiar in the pit of her stomach. Her gaze met Nicholas', and she couldn't deny the spark that still simmered beneath the surface. "You always had a quick comeback, didn't you?" she said, her voice tinged with a hint of nostalgia.
Nicholas chuckled, his eyes never leaving hers. "What can I say? I like to keep you on your toes, baby. " The familiarity of those words stirred something within her, and she tried to ignore the way her heart skipped a beat at hearing him call her that again.
Amara crossed her arms, trying to maintain a cool facade, but she felt her resistance crumbling. "You haven't changed a bit, have you?" They both stood up. Nicholas took a step closer, his voice dropping to a low whisper. "Maybe I haven't, but maybe that's not a bad thing."
Amara's heart pounded in her chest. She could feel the tension between them growing. She wanted to maintain her composure, but Nicholas had a way of breaking down her walls. "You never did know when to quit, did you?" she retorted, her voice wavering ever so slightly.
Nicholas was now standing close enough that she could smell his cologne, a familiar and intoxicating scent that stirred up memories. He leaned in, his voice a low rumble. "No, when it comes to you. I never did."
Amara's eyes flicked to his lips before quickly darting away. She could feel his breath on her skin and the intensity of his gaze. Her resolve was slipping, but she tried to hold on. "You can't just waltz back into my life and expect everything to be the way it was, Nicholas." He took another step closer, his voice a soft, barely audible whisper. His gaze was unwavering, and the intensity of his look almost made her knees buckle. "What if I want it to be?"
Those words hit her like a ton of bricks. She felt her heart skip a beat as she met his gaze, a mixture of uncertainty and desire flooding through her. She wanted to close the remaining distance between them, to feel his touch, to forget all the complicated history between them. But she knew that couldn't happen. "You can't just snap your fingers and erase everything that happened," she said, her voice quieter, more vulnerable.
"Can't I?" Nicholas responded. Amara felt her resolve slipping further. She wanted nothing more than to give in, to lose herself in the heat of the moment and forget about the past. But something held her back, a nagging doubt that they would only end up hurting each other again. "Nicholas...we can't...we can't go back," she said, her voice shaky and uncertain.
Before Nicholas could respond, a crew member called out to them, breaking the intensity of the moment. They both quickly composed themselves, taking a step back from each other. The crew member informed them that filming would begin shortly, and the moment was shattered.
"We'll, uh...talk later," Nicholas said quickly, looking everywhere but at her.

As Amara made her way to their spot, memories of their past flickered through her mind. She felt a pang in her chest, knowing that this would be different than all the times they had gone there before. Now, it was a new chapter, with both of them choosing to leave the past behind. But deep down, a nagging voice told her this won't be the case, she chose to ignore it.
She took a deep breath, trying to ignore the voice that warned her about the complicated emotions they both still carried for each other. As she arrived at the spot, the memories flooded back – the laughter, the stolen glances, the stolen kisses, the whispered confessions in the quiet night. But she pushed those thoughts aside and shook her head, reminding herself that they were starting anew, and they needed to be professional on set.
As she approached him, her heart skipped a beat. He was already there, just like always, on time and punctual. It was a trait she had admired about him in the past, and a part of her still did.
"Hey," she said casually, trying to keep her voice steady.
