Amara had just returned home, a buzz of adrenaline still coursing through her veins after wrapping the music video for Into You. Her energy was electric; every moment on set had been perfect, and she couldn't wait for the world to see it. With her upcoming tour just two months away, her schedule was about to get even busier, but she couldn't stop smiling at the thought of Nicholas joining her.
The two hadn't spent much time apart since rekindling their relationship, and knowing he would be part of her tour gave her a sense of comfort. She loved how supportive he was, and the idea of having him by her side while traveling made the daunting journey feel exciting instead.
Amara opened the door to find Nicholas lounging on her couch, scrolling through his phone. A warm smile spread across his face when he saw her. "Hey, superstar," he said, standing up to meet her.
She dropped her bag by the door and walked into his arms. "Missed you," she murmured.
"I missed you more," he replied, holding her close.
They settled on the couch, and Nicholas pulled her feet onto his lap. "So, how was it? You looked fine as fuck in the photos from set."
Amara grinned, leaning back. "It was amazing. But, you know, it's a pretty intimate video."
Nicholas shrugged casually, a stark contrast to how he might have reacted a year ago. "I know. That's your job, and you're great at it. As long as you're comfortable, that's all I care about."
She tilted her head, studying him. "You've changed. The old you would've been fuming at the thought of me working with another guy like that."
He laughed softly, running his thumb over her ankle. "Yeah, I would've. But back then, I let my insecurities get in the way. Now? I am not letting them ruin us. I trust us."
Her chest warmed at his words. "I'm proud of you, you know? And I don't take it for granted."
He smiled, leaning forward to kiss her forehead. "I'm proud of you too. And honestly? I'm just glad I get to be there with you on tour. No long-distance this time."
"Yeah," she said, her grin widening. "We get to do it together."
Nicholas nodded. "Together."
"Though, tell him not to get too touchy," Nicholas smirked, his voice playful as he leaned in to kiss her. "His hands better know to stay put."
Amara laughed, swatting his arm lightly. "You're impossible."
He shrugged, his grin widening. "Just saying. I'm cool with the video—mostly. But boundaries are boundaries, right?"
She shook her head, smiling. "You're lucky you're cute."
"Cute and secure," he corrected patting his chest proudly, pulling her closer. "Big difference, baby." They both laughed, the ease between them a testament to how far they'd come.
Nicholas kissed her forehead, pulling her in for a hug as her laughter softened. "I'm serious, though," he said, his tone light but meaningful. "I trust you completely. It's just nice knowing we can talk about stuff like this now without it becoming a thing."
Amara looked up at him, her smile softening. "I know. You've come a long way, Mr. Possessive."
"Hey, I wasn't that bad," he said, feigning offense.
