ARCHIE MATTHEWS:
I heard about yesterday, I'm glad you worked together and helped with getting Krista settled in.

JILLIAN HUNTER:
What can i say me and your dad make a sensational tag team.

REGGIE MATTHEWS:
You have a diamond here Archie, our Jeffrey and Stacy have gone through loads of pitfalls, so if you want to romanticise it, we threw him a bone.

ARCHIE MATTHEWS:
How is Uncle Bart keeping.

REGGIE MATTHEWS:
Chugging along, Isobel hasn't been in good health, though she is improving.

ARCHIE MATTHEWS:
I need to make time to see him. It's been too long, and seeing him at Christmas is good and all, but I should make the time.

JILLIAN HUNTER:
You have a war to disarm, look Jeffrey needs you here Bart will understand.

ARCHIE MATTHEWS:
No doubt, but i feel a bit selfish he's all the way down south in Slough.

CHRIS MATTHEWS:
Good afternoon, dad.

REGGIE MATTHEWS:
Why are you so bothered about Bart anyway?

ARCHIE MATTHEWS:
He's a part of this family that never stayed. He is ageing fast. Maybe it's just a slow day. Maybe I'm just being an old man.

CHRIS MATTHEWS:
it's perfectly natural to feel this way, dad.

ARCHIE MATTHEWS:
It's brought a sort of introspective look at my life, i can't be as rich as you or have the fists of fury that he has. What the hell am i.

CHRIS MATTHEWS:
You're the anchor of this ship.

ARCHIE MATTHEWS:
I've married twice, and I've spent my life in the house i was born in, in a county that is so destitute.

REGGIE MATTHEWS:
Oldham isn't glitz and glamour.

ARCHIE MATTHEWS:
You would say that after all, there's that handling stolen goods charges against you plus the persecution from your grandson for scolding him with hot water and turning him into the sort of monster he is today.

JACQUELINE KING:
I really think we should get back to the task at hand.

ARCHIE MATTHEWS:
You're with a 89 year old man, and how old are you?

JACQUELINE KING:
I'm 58, anyway what does my age have to do with anything.

JILLIAN HUNTER:
Jacqueline is right. What are you getting at.

ARCHIE MATTHEWS:
Your husband, my dad, has made my boy who recently had a schizophrenic breakdown into a mass murder long ago yet he refuses to admit it, you have no shame dad.

CHRIS MATTHEWS:
He didn't put anything in his hand through dad.

ARCHIE MATTHEWS:
When he poured that water on his back, you took all the pureness out that boy, how can you love a man like that.

REGGIE MATTHEWS:
And Saint Archie of Carlisle is any better, you cheated with your first wife with that slut Julia and then got your brother hurt by Luther, you didn't protect Jeffrey when he found out that Raymond had beaten his girlfriend so bad they lost their baby.

LORRAINE SMITH:
I knew the family was a mess, but not this much.

REGGIE MATTHEWS:
For some reason, you hang around with William Sugden, who is like a fart that won't go away and let's face it your not father of the year as Jeffrey's going to prove so if there's anyone to blame it's you.

(Reggie exits as tears fall down Archie's face)

ARCHIE MATTHEWS:
I've tried so hard for the past 52 years to do my best and be the best man i could, i only obeyed orders.

CHRIS MATTHEWS:
We know dad, he was harsh.

ARCHIE MATTHEWS:
May you all just leave for now, please. i need time, please.

Lorraine Smith:
I can stay to talk if you want.

Archie Matthews:
Me and you married for 44 years, you divorced me and married my best friend who you've just divorced so what makes you slightly qualified to talk to me.

Chris Matthews:
Give him space, mum.

(As soon as they leave, he grabs a picture which contains him, his brother Bradley, mother Cindy, and father Reggie spilling the glass shards everywhere)
