Chapter - 5: Things Go Haywire

At JaiSingh House:

Anya found sleep elusive for the longest time and stealthily entered Manya's room. She hugged her from behind and snuggled to her just like she did for the past 2 years. No matter how angry she was, she always needed her mother's warmth and Manya freely let her seek comfort without having any expectations from her. Never for once did Manya hold her child's anger against her and held back. Her love was too selfless, and Anya has no doubt that.

In fact her problem itself stems from the fact that Manya's love is too selfless to even hold Anya accountable for her infractions. Especially after meeting and interacting with Roohi, she understood what was missing in her life and what was pushing her to repel from her mother's love. She was missing the sense of unwavering trust her mother should have on her. 

The trust that every parent has on their kid that no matter how strict they may behave, their kids will come back to them by the end of the day.

That authority, that exertion of rights was missing. She also understood why Manya always held back but she wanted Manya to look beyond that. She was done with the entire guilt tripping. The glimpse of the Manya she saw in the University is what she is craving for, and she was determined to get that for herself. Come what may. 

With those thoughts, Anya dozed off like that. Manya opened her eyes and caressed her hair. She softly fondled Anya's cheeks that she hit while they were conversing. They were gentle taps but even that weighed heavy on Manya's conscience. She understood that Anya has enough love for her to stay back and to come back to her. But she also realized that she failed somewhere as a parent for whatever reason.

She was willing to rectify the mistake but didn't know what to do exactly. 

Manya has filed FIR against Adhiraj with all the proofs she had against him. She hated herself for letting him go Scot free 4 years back when he threatened to release Anya's pictures and shame her. Back then, Anya was suffering from addiction and if she levelled those charges, things would get ugly.

They might have had to live in Mumbai, dealing with all the chaos until everything got sorted. That might take a lot of time and Anya needed a change in environment badly. Her family doctors advised her to shift to the U.K. for better treatment and also to keep her away from unnecessary limelight. 

Adhiraj's parents came to plead her to take back the case and vouched to keep Adhiraj away from them. They cooperated so that Manya could get those restraining orders against Adhiraj, in exchange for Adhiraj's freedom. She stuck to her words but clearly, they didn't. He tried to sabotage her business while she was away and he almost succeeded. 

But Manya proved to be a tougher nut, and she came back to fight him in the court. She won at the end, but the damage was all done. She considered the well-being of the factory employees and agreed for a takeover by a huge MNC. She still has some stakes in that, but she is more of a sleeping partner. 

She had all the funds and whatever assets she could save from Adhiraj's clutches that would be sufficient to lead a lavish lifestyle forever. She liquidated most of them and shifted all the funds and investments without anyone's knowledge so that no one can trace her unless she wants them to. Her new lawyers and financial advisors are not from Mumbai, and she took utmost care to lay low. 

Manya didn't want another battle, but Adhiraj isn't having any of it. The kidnapping was the last nail in the coffin. She unleashed all the proofs and was now assured about getting Adhiraj behind the bars. It might take some time but she was sure that it will turn out in her favour. She was on it with all focus.
