Draped In A Mere Fantasy

Chapter Five

"Are you ready?" Vanessa asked. I sighed as I patted my backpack. "No.." "You have to.." "I know but.. leaving my parents is the last thing I wanted to do" "I know it's hard but, there's no other choice Maddie" "You're right..might as well just be ready" "Yep. I'm not sure scaring you but.. you're gonna see many weird things" she said, her expression serious.

"Damn.." Mom came in. "I guess this is it" "Yes Mom" "Well..be careful and learn more about your abilities okay?" "Yes Mom..and I will come back with Julia and aunt Em" "Okay.. Love you" Mom said as she hugged me. Dad followed and joined us while Vanessa left. "Love you too" "Be careful dear" Dad said. "Yes Dad".

They both kissed me goodbye while Vanessa returned. She took the cylindrical metal thing and started spinning the columns like a switch. The air cracked then a portal opened. Mom had tears in her eyes while Dad gave her a supported arm around her shoulders. I hugged them once more then started slowly walking backwards. Tears threatening to spill, Vanessa said goodbye and promised to be side by side with me. I couldn't believe it, I was leaving..like not seeing my parents for a long time because I know getting my sister won't be easy.

It's a journey through different places and worst of all is that.. I have no clue where she might be. It was so sad leaving them.. Isn't there another- "Let's go Maddie" Vanessa gently held my hand, I wiped tears that I didn't know had fell and looked at my parents but Mom wasn't there. I frowned in confusion "Where's-" Mom came down from the stairs with a strange old book. "Here. Emily left this" "What's this..?" "A book.. I don't know what it's about but I think it'll help" "oh..okay" I said as I took it.

"Goodbye Mom and Dad" I said and hugged them again, I stepped back and walked to Vanessa, she gave me a nod and I returned one then we jumped into the portal, I started seeing wisps and swirls of energy then white.....

When I opened my eyes I was on the ground, I got up and looked at Vanessa seeing her standing, we were in an open field full of evergreen grasses. "Welcome to Varsika" she announced. I looked around seeing trees and animals far away then when I looked infront of me..you won't believe what I saw.. it was a castle.. a very big golden castle. "Whoa.." "Good right?" "Straight out of a fantasy novel.." Wait why do I feel a sense of deja Vu. It's like- "Let's go" Vanessa said and I followed, backpack and the book in it.

We walked, passing through bushes and fruit trees then finally we reached a stone path that led to big gates that were closed and two guards stood at each side. We reached the gates.

"Halt!" One guard said in his green and gold armor. Vanessa stepped infront of me, confidently and talked. "It's me John.. no need to act protective" " Who is that" said John asked looking at me. "This is a friend of mine.. Lily" Wait a minute..Lily? I'm not- "And what is she doing here?" "John, she's my friend" "Wait..we need to make sure" "Ugh fine" Vanessa said boredly.

The other guard walked to me and opened his palm, a small ball of light appeared then it started spinning while getting big at the same time till it reached the size of a tennis ball, then a gold ribbon started surrounding it, closing it until it was a small golden ball. A hold opened itself at the center and then, it flashed at me.

I covered my eyes, from the harsh light while Vanessa yelled at John "What the hell is wrong with you! I didn't tell you to blind her!" "Hey what have I done wrong, it's supposed to do that". "Well you could've told before it flashed at me" I said annoyingly while slowly regaining my vision. "No threat detected" the golden ball said monotonously.

The gates opened as we entered in and they closed behind us. "Well this is it.. Varsika itself" Vanessa said as we continued walking, me looking at the people who are busy minding their own business. They were wearing green and golden attire, most of them. Some looked at me as if I was an alien. "Well.. looks like I'm not dressed as them" I say and Vanessa looks at me, oh yeah..I forgot" she snaps her fingers and my clothes transform into the same attire. It fit me well "You look different" Vanessa smiles. "Yes..very" I laugh, "come on..let's go".
