The Big Day

Kai's POV:

"Pa, you know that she's nervous. I could smell her across a 10 yard field, let alone when she was next to me." I told my father as I was fixing up my bow tie for the ceremony.

The actual ceremony happened during the day. The "mating" part, however, happened during the night. But, I wouldn't do that to Sophia right off the bat.

However, it is mandatory. But, then again, I'd lose all of the trust I'd gained from her.

So, we're going to exempt from engaging in any.... mating.

I looked at myself once more in the mirror and then turned to walk downstairs.

Marina was with Sophia in the front hall, checking everything in the mirror once more, I assume.

Marina caught sight of me, and ushered her into the living room.

"Alpha, with all due respect, it's unlucky to see the Luna before the ceremony commences." She said, slightly bowing.

"I'm aware." I told her smoothly and walked away. However, I did catch a glimpse of Sophia.

Blue dress, hugging her body perfectly, with blue heels that still don't make her as tall as me.

Black hair down to her back, and a blue rose crown in the back of her hair.

My wolf, Arkane, reluctantly agreed that she looked gorgeous.

"She does look nice. But keep in mind, Arkane, this bond will only stand until Pa is alive. She's a human, and human and werewolves together just don't mix."

"Well, you can't just earn her trust and then break it so suddenly." Arkane argued.

"Why not? I don't think she's had any relationships before."

"You don't know that, Kai. You could ask her. Get to know her even better." Arkane told me.

"No." I deadpanned.

"Why?"

"Cause I don't care, Arkane. We may be speaking to each other, but that doesn't mean that I want to know every nook and cranny about her." I said, getting to the point.

Sophia's POV:

"You don't have to be nervous, okay? I promise you'll be fine." Marina told me as I stood behind the doors to the garden.

I nodded and took a deep breath.

Marina then patted my shoulder and opened the door, revealing a beautiful scene.

An aisle with all the pack members and other packs from the land seated on the left and right sides. The path itself was littered with blossom petals, and a white carpet.

There, stood on the pedestal, Kai and beside him, Cory. Marina went to him through the back and stood beside him.

I lifted my head up to look at Kai, standing there in a crisp black suit with a bow tie. Everyone stood up as I walked down the pathway and gave me smiles. Everyone except one woman.

She looked to be around my age, maybe in her early or mid 20s. She was scowling at me and rolled her eyes, looking away as I made eye contact with her.

I wonder who she is... But, it doesn't matter.

Kai eyes landed on me and I saw his mouth part slightly. I saw his parted mouth form a small smile. His smile was a stark contrast to his concrete nature.

I walked over to the pedestal and took Kai's hand as he extended it towards me.

He then grabbed my other hand and etched me a little bit closer to him. Just until there were a few inches between us.

He looked into my eyes. I looked into his.

The pack Elder, or Kai's father, gave us a ritual to perform. I was to make a small cut in my hand, as was Kai, and add a few drops of my blood in a glass. Kai was to do the same. Then, we each have to take a sip of the mixed blood, which somehow seals the bond.

My father-in-law took out a small knife and made a tiny cut in my palm. It was about an inch long, but it hurt so bad. I yelped in pain, but Kai didn't even flinch.

When he extended his palm, I saw another faint scar. It was the exact same as the new one that was just made.

He noticed that I saw it, and immediately closed his fist to drop a couple drops of blood in the glass.

I did the same and as it mixed together, it created this deep, bluish colour instead of red.

I gasped softly at the magical change in the colour.

Li gave it to me and I brought the glass to my lips. I tilted it up, and let the metallic taste of the blood meet my tongue. I swallowed it and tried to act as normal as possible.

Kai chuckled and took the glass, taking a sip while keeping his eyes on me.

He'd clearly done this before. There was no doubt. But, with who?

Li then smiled as he took the glass from Kai. "Now, you may kiss."

What? Nobody told me there was a kiss. I gave Marina a panicked look.

She stifled a laugh, and so did Cory.

Oh, they did this on purpose.

Kai then sighed and placed a hand on my waist as I gently placed my hands on his chest. He leaned forward to kiss me on the forehead.

Li frowned. "On the lips, Kai." he urged.

"No, that's okay, father." I told Li, brushing it off. Kai's hand lingered on my waist for a bit before he gave me another kiss on my temple.

"There. Another one to make up for it." He said and then held my hand, leading me down the pedestal as everyone clapped and cheered for us.

"I don't say this often to anyone, but, you look nice." He said, gently holding my waist as he guided me down the pathway to meet some of the guests.

"Thank you. So do you." I told him, and for the first time, he gave me a full smile.

Though... it was probably just for show.

Right?
