It had now been a month since I met Kai, and tomorrow is the mating ceremony.
God, I'm so nervous. Even though I didn't want this, I had to. For my father-in-law.
I was currently sitting at the dining table with Kai and Cory, and Li Bei.
Kai noticed me taking tiny nibbles of my toast and put down his fork.
"Eat properly." he said, and took my spoon, feeding me some blueberries. One thing that did change was Kai's attitude towards me. I bet he soon figured that he was stuck with me for the rest of his life, so he might as well just put up with it.
He can't blame me forever.
"I'm not hungry, Kai." I told him.
"Liar." He said and had a faint smirk on his lips. I gave him a faint smile, and took a big bite of my toast.
"I knew it." he mumbled and returned to his own food. I had gotten to know Kai a little more.
His favourite fruit was starfruit, his favourite food was pasta, which was the same for me, and his hobbies were archery, hunting and reading. His favourite colours were black, blue, and brown.
I finished my food quicker than Kai and he noticed, scoffing with a tiny little smile.
"Who's not hungry now?" he said, teasing.
"Ok, ok, fine. I was really hungry." I told him quietly.
"How are you settling in?" He asked.
"I like it here." I told him, "I have friends, and I'm starting to understand the ways of the pack."
He nodded, "That's great. The faster you learn, the better for yourself."
I smiled and got my plate. "I'm going to go up to my room."
He nodded and got up, too. "I should get to my office. I have a business meeting today, and it's hell important. Cory, take Sophia around the boundaries, show her our territory."
Cory stood up and gave him a slight bow in respect. "Yes, Alpha."
I smiled at Cory and he smiled back. He was wearing thin-rimmed, clear glasses today. I didn't even know he needed glasses.
Kai went to the kitchen and put his plate in the sink, then went upstairs to his room.
No growling. Progress.
I went to my room after putting my own plate in the sink, and sorted out my dress and heels for tomorrow night.
I sighed. Damn, this is going to be so nerve-racking.
