Kai's POV:
I watched as Sophia drove away with her friend, leaving the premises of my property.
Cory came up beside me. "Orders, sir?"
"Follow them. Guard her with your life, and only interfere if something goes wrong."
Cory nods and walks out, Marina following suit.
I walk back to my room and sit down on the bed, loosening my bow tie as it clings to my collar.
Then, I receive a text. Unknown.
I unlock my phone and open the text, only to see a picture of me and Sophia as I leaned in to kiss the side of her head. It was taken while we were on the pedestal. From somewhere in the corner of the garden. A secluded corner where nobody would see the stalker.
My jaw tightens as the unknown person sends a blood-boiling message.
Unknown: I can take her anytime I want
I type out a reply, which I shouldn't have, but the anger was boiling. Even though I had no romantic feelings for her, Sophia is still my mate. She's my responsibility.
You: Touch her and I'll cut off your hands.
The message was terrifyingly morbid, which seemed to have worked, because the person went inactive.
"Great." I sighed. That was a huge mistake. What if they try to hurt her now? After I threatened them back?
I took off my suit jacket and bow tie, and got out of the house, rolling up my shirt sleeves and unbuttoning the top button to make it a bit more comfortable.
Luckily, Sophia's location was still on. I quickly tracked her at 775 Sun Garden Crescent.
I grabbed the keys to my Jeep and got in, barely closing the door before starting the engine and speeding out of the driveway, onto the road.
In the meantime, I rang Sophia's phone. She picked up a few minutes after.
"Hello?" Her sweet voice rang. I sighed in relief.
"Sophia. Where are you right now?" I asked her.
"At Allen's house. Why?" She asked.
"Okay, Sophia, listen to me, this is not up for debate, okay? Stay in there with Allen. Whatever you do, do not get out of that house until I get there, okay? I promise I'll explain everything on the way back home." I spoke in a gentle tone, knowing that she would be confused.
"O-Okay... but, are you going to tell me why?" she asked, stammering with confusion.
"I will. Stay there, I'm coming to pick you up." I told her.
I then ended the call, only to see Cory's name flash on the screen.
"Sir, a white car just pulled into the house's driveway." Cory said, "And a masked person came out of it. They're knocking on the door right now."
I physically felt the blood drain from my face. My heart rate spiked and I absently stepped on the gas pedal.
"I'll be there in about 8 minutes. Hold them off, only if they use force."
"Got it, sir." Cory said and ended the call.
I got there in about 5 minutes, considering that I was speeding. There was indeed a person standing at the door, banging at it with brute force. They were masked, but judging by their build, it was a man.
He turned around to see me standing behind him. He then reached into his pocket and pulled out a knife.
He then ran at me and tried to stab me, but I dodged the attempt and punched him. He fell to the floor, unconscious. Of course, werewolves have super-strength, so it's normal.
Before I got to the door, the man grabbed my leg and stood up so fast, I barely had time to think.
Then, he plunged the knife into my side with a snap of his arm. I roared in pain and took the knife from him, making a deep slash across his face.
I threw the knife on the ground and walked to the door. "Sophia....open the door."
From the blurry design on the door, I could barely see Sophia hidden in the half-open door of the jacket closet.
She came out and opened the door, taking in my state and the blood seeping through my hand.
Her doe brown eyes widened and she immediately grabbed my arm, pulling me in and locking the door.
"Kai, what happened? Who was that guy? You said you'd explain everything once you got here. You're hurt!" she rambled. I sighed and put my finger on her lips, shushing her.
"Chill. I'm fine." I told her, giving her a faint smile. She looked at me with an unconvinced look.
I chuckled and she held my shoulders. "You've been stabbed, and judging by how much you're bleeding, it went deep."
Allen came downstairs cautiously and smirked when he saw the state I was in.
"So, Mr. Nobody-Can-Touch-Me got hurt? Stabbed, even? This is the most incredible day of my life." He said. I glared at him and then looked back at Sophia.
"How are you friends with this asshole?" I said, shaking my head and narrowing my eyes at Allen.
Sophia smiled. "He's just having a hard time adjusting to you being my mate."
I scoffed. "Well, you're stuck with me. Whether he likes it or not."
She rolled her eyes and gave me a smile. "Okay, smooth-talker, let's get you some medical attention, yeah?"
"No. No hospital." I told her all too quickly, "Never."
Sophia looked at me and tilted her head to the side. "Why not?"
"Doctors can't help me in any way. We need the healers in our pack." I told her, shaking my head.
"Your pack. Sophia will never be like you." Allen spat. I glared at him and stood up straight.
"Too late. Not even you can reverse the bond. Only the female can break it. And I know Sophia's not willing to do that, because that would mean my father would die from a stress heart attack. She's not cold-blooded like you." I retorted.
Sophia looks at her friend. "He's right, Allen. I'm sorry."
Allen scoffs and rolls his eyes. "Whatever. Just.... take good care of her, and I swear if you hurt her, I shoot you with a silver bullet myself."
I silenced. It was for the better, because just by the smell that this guy's giving off, I can tell he's about to explode.
"Kai...." Sophia murmured my name softly, "You're losing blood. And you're going pale."
I looked at her, taking in her features for the very first time.
I swear, her friend is hell's greatest sent down to annoy me personally.
